Usage Guidelines

The Mercer County Community College logo is the keystone of our brand identity, a unique trademark used to identify the college, its products, services, and communication materials. It is a readily identifiable icon and an expression of the college's personality, values, and commitment to the community.

As one of the most important intellectual properties we own, the logo must be regulated in use to ensure that the value of its identity is maintained.

These guidelines cannot anticipate every possible situation. If you find yourself doubting an application not addressed here, or if you have any questions, please >contact us.

a. Reproduction
Reproduction of the MCCC logo must always be from approved artwork generated by the college's Marketing staff. The college logo may not be redrawn, changed or distorted and must be reproduced using the college's approved fonts. Variations to the college logo are only allowed under the strictest of guidelines and with the final approval of the Marketing staff.

b. Size Restrictions
To maintain the integrity of the college logo, a minimum size has been established. Do not use the logo smaller than 1.25" (31.75mm) in width. It is always strongly recommended to reproduce the logo as large as possible in any publication.

c. Free Space
To protect the college logo's readability and visual impact, a designated amount of "free space" must surround the logo. Free space constitutes an area clear of any type of graphic element - text, photo, or another logo/symbol. This applies to backgrounds where the logo appears. If a background image has elements that would detract, distract or hinder the readability of the logo, another area for placement should be found. The logo should not be covered by other elements in a design or layout. This will lessen its identity and impact.

d. Use With Other Logos
The college logo should not be placed directly adjacent to another organization's logo or identifier. When the MCCC logo is used with another logo/icon of any type, it must be within the specifications indicated in this manual. Because of the logo's impact on a viewer's perception of the college, strict adherence to these specifications is necessary.

e. Color Template
Color plays an integral part in the college logo's presence in any layout. The accompanying chart indicates the correct color codes for CMYK, Pantone® Color System, RGB, Web Safe, and Hexadecimal use.

f. Color Combinations
Based on the color needs of the layout, application of the college logo with regard to colors or number of colors may be adjusted. The bottom three examples on page 24 illustrate some acceptable changes to the logo's color scheme when used on backgrounds and jobs requiring less than four-color process printing.
