4. Confirm that you have read the above and make an appointment:

  • Email the program coordinator at shavel@mccc.edu to confirm you have read and understand the initial, financial support, and policy resources, and their embedded links, and list all days and times you are available to meet over the phone, at the James Kerney Campus (JKC), and/or at the West Windsor Campus (WWC).
  • The program coordinator is usually at JKC on Mondays in KC317F, and at WWC from Tuesdays-Fridays in MS152.
  • See the JKC parking information and WWC map, and email the program coordinator for more information on his office hours.

5. Apply to Mercer:

  • If you are a new student, create an account to apply for admission here and select Medical Office Assistant - Certificate of Proficiency as your academic program.
  • If you are a returning student (out of college for a year or more), email ayalaa@mccc.edu (cc shavel@mccc.edu) to inform Admissions that you are returning.
  • If you are current student, email shavel@mccc.edu to schedule a time to meet and fill out a change of program of study form to change your program to Medical Office Assistant (MOA) or add Medical Office Assistant as a second program of study, listing Lisa Shave as the advisor.

9. Confirm that you have read the above and make an appointment:

  • Email the program coordinator at shavel@mccc.edu to confirm you have read and understand the technology and select student success resources, and their embedded links, and list all days and times you areshavel available to meet over the phone, at the James Kerney Campus (JKC), and/or at the West Windsor Campus (WWC).
  • We will explore your academic and career goals, and register for classes. All courses except MOA 101 and 103 are offered at least once in the fall, spring, and summer terms, either in-person or online depending on the term. MOA 101 and 103 are offered in the fall and spring online.

10. Complete next steps:

  • Learn about success coaching; meet with the health professions (WWC) or a JKC success coach to plan for how you will maximize your time and be successful in your classes.
  • Continue to meet with the Coordinator of Career Services; meet with the program coordinator once she signs off on your resume to discuss applying to paid internships.
  • Attend mandatory new student orientation.
  • Learn about the Mercer bookstore.
