Thank you for considering partnering with the Certificate of Proficiency in Medical Office Assistant!
Here are two sample ways we can partner:
1. Innovative Partnerships: paid internships related to programs of study that current Mercer students complete. Interested in learning more? Here are next steps and considerations:
- See a sample affiliation agreement (embed attached document) and the Internship Incentive Program Application: if we apply and are accepted, you can receive up to half of the student's salary reimbursed!
- Reach out to the program coordinator ( shavel@mccc.edu) to meet with him in-person, online (See the JKC parking information and WWC map), or over the phone and send him a sample job description.
- Let the program coordinator know if you are interested in creating an agreement and he will start the process; agreements created will count toward objectives of Mercer's Strategic Plan.
- Each student is required to have their resume signed off by Career Services. Then, the program coordinator meets with the student, he connects them with you, and we find the right fit! Always glad to discuss planning career and collaborative programming (ex: guest speakers in classes, informational interview days) too.
- Internships have positive implications on early career outcomes; learn more from this study conducted by the National Association of Colleges and Employers!
2. Articulation Agreements: Mercer has multiple agreements and a University Center which offers undergraduate and graduate degrees online and on our campuses. In order to graduate with a Mercer credential (degree or the Medical Office Assistant certificate), students must complete at least 15 100+ level credits at Mercer that are required for a credential. Here are next steps and considerations:
- Offering the certificate as an option for your students to complete. Students receive some preparation toward the CMAA and CPC credential exams, and advising based on the NACADA: The Global Community for Academic Advising Core Competencies.
- Creating or revising a program or Health Professions Division-wide articulation agreement that enables students to seamlessly transfer into your program.
- A prior dean developed the health professions meta-major, in which the majority of our students begin with completing the same first semester (Anatomy & Physiology I, College Success & Personal Wellness, English Composition I, Elementary Statistics I, Introduction to Psychology), enabling seamless transitions between health professions programs and ensuring student success, also a goal in our Strategic Plan.
