West
Windsor, N.J. -- Jodie Ricciardi, head coach for women's soccer
at Mercer County Community College, has resigned after four
seasons. Said MCCC Athletics Director John Simone. "We
are sorry to see Coach Ricciardi leave us, but she put in
four solid years that yielded great results. We truly appreciate
her dedication to the players and the sport."
During
Ricciardi's tenure, the Vikings earned the Region 19 title
and advanced to the Northeast District final in both 2008
and 2009. In the 2010 season, the Vikings fell one game short
of the regional title in an overtime loss to Burlington CC.
According
to Simone, the 2011 roster will benefit from the talents of
eight returning sophomores and eight incoming recruits who
are expected to be strong additions to the team. The Vikings'
assistant coaches, Mike DeAngelis and Nicole Hover, will continue
in their roles on the coaching staff.
An immediate
review of potential coaching candidates has commenced, with
an expected announcement of the new coach by Aug. 1 and practice
to begin Aug. 9. For more information, e-mail simonej@mccc.edu
