MCCC Makes Final Preparations for NJCAA Division I Men's Soccer Championships Pre-tournament Practice Open to Public 10/26/09 West Windsor, N.J. - Campus-wide preparations continue at Mercer County Community College for the National Junior College Athletic Association Division I Men's Soccer Tournament that the college will host for the first time since 1999. The eight-team National Championships are scheduled for Wednesday, Nov. 18 through Sunday, Nov. 22. MCCC will give soccer fans an early look at the teams by opening the pre-tournament workouts at the MCCC Soccer Complex to the public on Wednesday, Nov. 18, the day before the quarterfinal round. Practice times are 50 minutes in length and assigned as follows: Game 1 Higher Seed: 8:30 am-9:20 am Game 1 Lower Seed: 9:30 am-10:20 am Game 2 Higher Seed: 10:30 am-11:20 am Game 2 Lower Seed: 11:30 am-12:20 pm Game 3 Higher Seed: 12:30 pm-1:20 pm Game 3 Lower Seed: 1:30 pm-2:20 pm Game 4 Higher Seed: 2:30 pm-3:20 pm Game 4 Lower Seed: 3:30 pm-4:20 pm *Additional practice time on the adjacent grass fields is available as a convenience to teams. Seeds will be announced the week prior to the tournament. Later that day, the teams will attend a banquet and T-shirt exchange, and the NJCAA will hold induction ceremonies for its 2009 Soccer Hall of Fame class, including two former MCCC players. Game times on both Thursday, Nov. 19 and Friday, Nov. 20 are: 9:30 a.m.; noon; 2:30 p.m.; and 5 p.m. On Sunday, Nov. 22, the game times are: 9 a.m.; 11:30 a.m.; and 2 p.m. (championship game). Tickets may be purchased prior to the tournament through the MCCC Athletic Office by calling (609) 570-3742 between 9 a.m. and 2 p.m. on Mondays and Thursdays through November 16. A tournament pass for all 11 games is available for $30. General admission tickets cost $12 per day and are good for all games that day. Non-MCCC students who have a valid high school or college ID and seniors ages 62 and up pay only $25 for a tournament pass or $10 for a daily general admission ticket. Students, faculty and staff with a valid Mercer County Community College ID will be admitted free of charge. Also, MCCC will offer free admission to children 12 and under who wear their youth soccer team jerseys to the tournament. Admission for all other children 12 and under is $3 per day.
