3/7/11
West Windsor,
N.J. -- Soccer player Mohamed Conteh, a defensive midfielder
who completed his sophomore season on the men's soccer team
at Mercer County Community College this past fall, has signed
a national letter of intent to play for Division II Wilmington
University (DE) next year.
Following
the fall season, in which Mercer won the Region 19 title and
advanced to the District Tournament final, Conteh was named
to the All-Region and All-GSAC first teams and was named no.
5 on the list of the region's top players. He also earned
second team All-American honors from the National Soccer Coaches
of America Association.
A graduate
of West Windsor North High School, Conteh's high school team
earned a 19-2 record in his senior year and advanced to the
semi-finals of the state tournament.
A Liberal
Arts major, Conteh says Mercer has worked out well for him.
"I got a lot of playing time and also got the academic
foundation I needed." He plans to major in sports management
at Wilmington.
