Baseball Team Moves On To
Northeast Tournament at Home May 9-11

After claiming the Region 19 title last weekend, the MCCC Baseball Team moves on to the Northeast District Tournament, to be hosted by Mercer this weekend, May 9-11.  The winner of the tournament heads for the NJCAA Division II World Series later this month.

Play begins this Friday, May 9, when the Vikings face Rockland (NY) at 3 p.m. on the Mercer fields.  The other two teams, Alfred State (NY) and Massasoit (MA), will play at 3 p.m. at Mercer Co. Park.  The winners of Friday's games face each other Saturday at 9:30 a.m. at the Mercer fields.  The losers will play at 9:30 a.m. at Mercer Co. Park.  Check local papers for schedule updates and scores.

In the regional tournament, the Vikings had a great day on May 2 when they beat Brookdale 8-3, a team they had lost to in all three of their regular season contests.  Mercer then beat Lackawanna 10-4.  The second day of the regionals was just as good, as the Vikings defeated Del Tech 8-6 to take the double-elimination tournament 3-0.
