Two MCCC Soccer Players Selected as All-Americans

West Windsor,
N.J. -The Mercer County Community College Athletics Department
has received word that soccer player Kadeem Dacres, a sophomore
midfielder, has been named a First Team NJCAA All-American.
Dacres finished the year with 7 goals and 2 assists. Dacres
was named the Region 19 Men's Soccer Player of the Year and
was selected to the Region 19 and Garden State Athletic Conference
First Teams this fall.
With a
13-4 final record, the Vikings regained the Region 19 title,
and advanced to the Northeast District final before falling
to Monroe CC (Bronx). They finished the season ranked 15th
nationally in Division I soccer in the National Soccer Coaches
Association of America and Adidas National Junior College
Poll.
On the women's side, freshman forward Cristina Alonso was
named a Second Team NJCAA All-American. Alonso finished the
year with 12 goals and 9 assists. Alonso was named the Region
19 Women's Soccer Player of the Year and was selected to the
Region 19 and Garden State Athletic Conference First Teams
this fall.
The women
ended the season with a record of 7-8-1. Within Region 19
Division I, their record, including their two games in the
playoffs, was 5-2-1. The Vikings lost to Burlington CC 2-1
in overtime in the Region 19 championship.
