Artists age 18 or older who live, work, or attend school in Mercer County are invited to submit their art for consideration for the "Mercer County Artists 2015" exhibition at The Gallery at Mercer. Jurying takes place on Saturday, Jan. 24. Read more here.
The HRIM "Breakfast Class" will be open for business beginning Monday, Jan. 5, from 7:30 a.m. to 9 a.m. in ES111, Monday through Thursday, then Tuesday-Thursday Jan. 13-15. Ticket prices start at $3, payable after meal.

From MercerOnline Coordinator Jill Marcus: Professional Development for Spring 2015 has a new look and format. The Information Technology Services Department, Instructional and Institutional Effectiveness, MercerOnline, and the Instructional Professional and Improvement Committee are pleased to host a series of exciting events for the college community Jan. 12 to 14 during pre-class week; events include roundtable discussions, focus groups and traditional workshops. Young Percy Jackson is about to embark on the adventure of a lifetime as he tries to set things right in the mythological world of the Greek gods. Young audiences will thrill to the new musical adaptation of "The Lightning Thief," to be presented by Theatreworks USA at Kelsey Theatre Saturday, Jan. 17 at 2 and 4 p.m. Read more here.

Fifteen classes of the new American Honors at Mercer program treated their professors and fellow students to a full morning of skits, readings and demonstrations as a way to present their newfound knowledge during a symposium held Dec. 6 at the MCCC Conference Center.

The MCCC Chorus provided their voices and some winter cheer in the college's annual electronic holiday greeting to faculty, staff, alumni, and supporters. See the greeting here.
Francesco Russo, a Sports Management major and member of the men’s soccer team, was the grand prize winner in the "Be a Mercer Fan on Instagram" contest, winning a $250 a gift card to the college bookstore. Russo gathered more than 800 "likes" from friends in the U.S. and his native Dominican Republic in his winning entry. During the course of the contest -- which featured 10 weekly winners -- student traffic on Instagram more than doubled. See the winning photos on Pinterest by clicking here.
Funeral Service students got a VIP tour of Arlington National Cemetery, the country’s most hallowed burial ground. Arlington Superintendent Jack Lechner, a 1976 alumnus of MCCC’s first Funeral Service class, facilitated and conducted the visit. Read more here.
Mercer political science students in Assistant Professor Leonard Winogora's POL 102 class got an up-close-and-personal look at the workings of government, with visits by municipal, county, and state officials. Read more here.

From IPIC Chair Theresa Capra: The Instructional and Professional Development Committee (IPIC) is pleased to announce a professional development opportunity for adjunct faculty. The committee is now accepting applications for a professional improvement grant. This grant will be provided to the selected recipients to attend a professional conference covering instructional topics that are not offered at Mercer. The three awardees of the Spring 2015 grant will receive a stipend of up to $150 each toward registration and travel to a conference that will advance their professional development as an educator. All adjunct faculty are encouraged to apply.
