WEST WINDSOR –The Mercer County Community College baseball team will welcome a class of 20 new recruits this fall, including multiple players who have earned all-county, all-conference, and all-state honors as high school athletes.

"This recruiting class represents top talent from Mercer County’s strong high school baseball programs, along with players from various counties and multiple states," said Vikings Head Coach Kevin Kerins.

The Vikings baseball team posted a solid 2013 season, earning a no. 12 national ranking in Division II and went into the Region 19 Tournament as the no. 1 seed with a 32-15 record. This is the second recruiting class under Kerins, who was named Region 19 Coach of the Year. Two Mercer players have been selected in the Major League Baseball draft over the last three years.

According to Kerins, this incoming class shows a lot of promise.

“This group showcases several strong academic performers, multiple all-state players, and all-around quality young men,” Kerins said.

In addition to a significant number of Mercer County recruits, other players will come to MCCC from New York, Pennsylvania, and other parts of New Jersey. Close to three-quarters of the recruits have all-state, all-conference, or all-county honors to their credit.
