Register Now for ELC21C Conference August 21
The Instructional and Professional Improvement Committee (IPIC) would like to remind interested individuals to register for the "Engaging Learners in the 21st Century Conference," to be held on Wednesday, Aug. 21 at the Conference Center. The agenda features 17 workshops and a keynote address by Mercer Professor Emeritus Angela Provitera McGlynn. Advanced registration is required and space is limited. Those interested in the keynote address but unable to attend the conference, e-mail Jill Marcus at marcusj@mccc.edu. For details about the conference program and to register, click here. Student Activities Collecting Books for Africa
Student Activities has partnered with Better World Books to run a campus-wide book drive to raise funds for the Leadership Program while providing books to promote global literacy.

Books must be in usable condition, published within the last 10 years, and not customized for MCCC courses. Donations can be dropped off at the Student Activities Office, SC111, and the office will work with donors to arrange pick up, if necessary. Contact Tina Young in the Student Activities Office for more information at ext. 3677 or at youngt@mccc.edu. Donations will be distributed through Books for Africa. Amy Ricco is Distinguished Teacher for 2013
Mercer Associate Professor Amy Ricco said her "dream job ended up being my first job out of college” in accepting the MCCC Distinguished Teaching Award during Commencement on May 23. Read more here. See the Trenton Times story here.

Game Design Students Turn Assignment Into Business Endeavor
Mercer Game Design students Matt Guido and John-Paul Yunque have taken their game, Lunch War, and independently published it through their newly-founded company, The Automatic Gentlemen, LLC.  The game, which began as a class assignment, will be for sale through Apple and Android App stores starting in July. Behrens Recognized for Advanced Proficiency
Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA) Program Coordinator Barbara Behrens recently fulfilled the requirements for the American Physical Therapy Association’s (APTA) Physical Therapist Assistant Recognition of Advanced Proficiency.  According to the APTA website, the designation signifies that the recipient has “gone above and beyond entry-level education in their selected area of work and sets the recipient apart from other providers…through education, experience, and leadership.”

News of Behrens’ achievement was included in Jersey Jargon, the e-newsletter of the New Jersey chapter of the APTA.  It is the first time that this recognition has been given in the area of education.

Baseball Coach Expects Big Boost From New Recruits
The Mercer baseball team will welcome a class of 20 new recruits this fall, including multiple players who have earned all-county, all-conference, and all-state honors as high school athletes. Read more here.

Through July 28: Mercer County Community College Photographs Bethlehem. Exhibit by Mercer Photography students will be on display at Bethlehem's Banana Factory Gallery through July 28. A reception will be held July 5, 6 to 10 p.m. Read more here. To view the videos, click here.

Through August 15: Yoga Classes. Classes with Tracy will be held every Monday and Thursday from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. in PE 225 through August 15. Wednesday classes with Helen will be held June 19 and 26, July 10, 17, and 24, and August 7 and 14 from noon to 1 p.m. in the Conference Center, Room 117.
