The Instructional and Professional Improvement Committee (IPIC) would like to remind interested individuals to register for the "Engaging Learners in the 21st Century Conference," to be held on Wednesday, Aug. 21 at the Conference Center. The agenda features 17 workshops and a keynote address by Mercer Professor Emeritus Angela Provitera McGlynn. Advanced registration is required and space is limited. Those interested in the keynote address but unable to attend the conference, e-mail Jill Marcus at marcusj@mccc.edu.
For details about the conference program and to register, click here. For additional inquiries, contact Theresa Capra at caprat@mccc.edu.
Student Activities has partnered with Better World Books to run a campus-wide book drive to raise funds for the Leadership Program while providing books to promote global literacy.
Books must be in usable condition, published within the last 10 years, and not customized for MCCC courses. Donations can be dropped off at the Student Activities Office, SC111, and the office will work with donors to arrange pick up, if necessary. Contact Tina Young in the Student Activities Office for more information at ext. 3677 or at youngt@mccc.edu. Donations will be distributed through Books for Africa. Read more at www.booksforafrica.org.
Mercer Associate Professor Amy Ricco said her "dream job ended up being my first job out of college” in accepting the MCCC Distinguished Teaching Award during Commencement on May 23. Read more here. See the Trenton Times story here.
Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA) Program Coordinator Barbara Behrens recently fulfilled the requirements for the American Physical Therapy Association’s (APTA) Physical Therapist Assistant Recognition of Advanced Proficiency. According to the APTA website, the designation signifies that the recipient has “gone above and beyond entry-level education in their selected area of work and sets the recipient apart from other providers…through education, experience, and leadership.”
News of Behrens’ achievement was included in Jersey Jargon, the e-newsletter of the New Jersey chapter of the APTA. It is the first time that this recognition has been given in the area of education.
