If you’re a classical or jazz record collector, then be sure to stop by the offices of WWFM The Classical Network before Friday, June 20, where there are records free for the taking! Classical albums, 78’s, jazz, big band -- lots to rummage through. The offices are open Monday – Friday 9 a.m. 4 p.m., so please stop by or call Diane Guvenis, Development Director at ext. 3771.
The Horticulture Program has some leftover perennials from the Philadelphia Flower Show (PFS) display for sale. They are in one-gallon pots and cost $2 per pot. Most are daylillies, ornamental grasses, hibiscus, or liriope (a grass-like groundcover with purple flowers). All proceeds will go toward funding the program's PFS display next year. If you would like to see the plants, contact Amy Ricco to set up an appointment at riccoa@mccc.edu or ext. 3372.
Faculty are planning to visit Cuba, Italy, China, Poland, Belize, and Paris during the 2014-15 academic year. If you know anyone who is interested in a faculty-led study tour, information sessions will be held throughout the summer at noon in BS128 on the following Thursdays: June 19, July 17, and Aug. 21. Three new degree programs will make their debut at Mercer during the 2014-15 academic year: Security Systems Technology, Public Health, and Health Information Technology. Read more here.
MCCC faculty, staff and students enjoyed a great day volunteering at Super Science Saturday in May. The event, held at the New Jersey State Museum in Trenton, attracted approximately 4,000 visitors. Read more here.
In a tribute to women who are going above and beyond to make a difference at community colleges, the Mercer Chapter of the American Association for Women in Community Colleges hosted its fourth annual “Celebrating Women Leaders in Community Colleges” breakfast in May, honoring Theresa Capra, Ph.D., Associate Professor of Education, and Erin Cahill-Wetzel, Administrative Specialist in the Athletics Department and Head Coach for Women's Cross Country, with the Patricia C. Donohue Leadership Award. Read more here.
One of the hallmarks of Mercer’s Funeral Service program is its internship component, which requires that students work part-time in a funeral home for several semesters. That real world experience is key for several reasons, says the program’s new director, Michael Daley. Read more here.

July 7 through Aug. 4: Evening Yoga clases will be held during the summer on Mondays and Thursdays from 5:30 t o 6:30 p.m. in PE 225. Classes begin July 7 and continue through Aug. 4. Bring a mat and wear comfortable clothing. Stay tuned for announcement of daytime classes.
