The Student Activities office is hosting a Hygiene Drive April 21 through May 5 to benefit Trenton Family Preservation House. A wide variety of toiletry and personal care items will be accepted. All donations can be dropped off in SC 111. To see a detailed list of items, click here.
The Mercer County Holocaust/Genocide Resource Center will observe Holocaust Remembrance Day on Tuesday, April 22, from 4 to 6 p.m. with an exhibit of Holocaust images from photographer Jerry Casciano entitled "Surviving the Plan" and a presentation by Holocaust survivor and MCCC Professor Emerita Dr. Vera Goodkin. The Music Club is holding its first fundraising event on April 23. The event will be held in SC104 from noon to 1 p.m. Live music will be provided by club members! Part of the funds will be donated to "Save the Music," a nonprofit organization that provides musical instruments to schools around the world. The club invites all faculty, staff and students to come out.
A Criminal Justice Career Fair will be held Thursday, April 24, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the Student Center, with several federal, state, and local law enforcement agencies participating. For more information contact the Transfer and Career Services office at ext. 3397 or thomasl@mccc.edu.
An open house for the William Paterson at Mercer program will be held Thursday, April 24, 5 to 7 p.m. in the West Windsor Campus cafeteria. Students will learn about WPU bachelor's degree programs on campus and meet WPU faculty, staff and admissions and financial aid representatives. Mercer students are invited to participate in the "Appear in Mercer Gear" Pinterest contest by following MCCC on Pinterest and sending photos of themselves in Mercer gear. The contest has been extended through April 25. Students have a chance to win up to $150 in gift cards. Anyone can submit photos, but college employees are ineligible for prizes. See the flyer here. The diverse talents of Mercer’s Visual Arts students will be on display at this year's "MCCC Student Visual Arts Show." The exhibit comes to The Gallery at Mercer from Tuesday, April 29 through Friday, May 9. Read more here.
In just four weeks, students collected 110,000 pennies -- $1,100! -- to be donated to Alex’s Lemonade Stand, which funds cutting edge research and provides support to children with cancer and their families. Read the story here.
Princeton resident Greg Olsen, a scientist and entrepreneur who was the third private citizen to orbit the Earth in the International Space Station (ISS), summed up his life philosophy in three words -- "don’t give up" -- during his recent presentation as part of the MCCC Distinguished Lecture Series. Alumnus Jesse Herrera ('05) will depart from Hamilton tomorrow morning to embark on a coast-to-coast bicycle journey to help raise funds supporting education at the Trenton Campus. At 25-4, the women’s softball team is having one of its most successful seasons in recent memory. In a poll released by the National Junior College Athletic Association, the Vikings are currently ranked no. 18 in the country.

May 6: Trenton Campus Celebration of Academic Achievement. The college community is invited to join the Trenton Campus for the 26th Annual Celebration of Academic Achievement on Tuesday, May 6 at 6 p.m. at the George Washington Ballroom in the Trenton War Memorial. The keynote address will be delivered by New Jersey Assemblywoman Bonnie Watson-Coleman. For additional details contact Monique Richardson, richardm@mccc.edu.
May 7: HiTOPS Health Services in Trenton. Services include general health screenings, blood pressure checks, health counseling, family planning counseling, and screening for depression and eating disorders. No appointment necessary; valid student ID required. See the flyer here.
May 10: African American Student Organization Craft Fair. Saturday, May 10 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. in the WWC cafeteria. More than 30 vendors will be showcasing their unique items including jewelry, paintings, home goods, knit items, silk floral arrangements, cosmetics, pottery, soaps, baby items, fresh plants, and more. Through May 13: Yoga and Zumba Classes. Evening yoga with Tracy is held every Monday and Thursday, 5:30 to 6:30 p.m., in PE225 through May 12. Lunchtime yoga with Helen is held every Wednesday, noon to 1 p.m., in the gym through May 7.

Through May 15: Kelsey Review accepting submissions. Those who live, work and/or study in Mercer County are invited to submit short fiction, poetry, personal essays, art and more for the 2014 edition of Kelsey Review. The submission deadline is May 15. Read the details here.
