Deadline for Adjunct Development Grants is Today!
Today is the deadline for adjunct faculty members to apply for IPIC's professional improvement grants. Three selected recipients will be awarded funding to attend a professional conference covering instructional topics that are not offered at Mercer. The stipend is up to $150 each toward registration and travel. All adjunct faculty are encouraged to apply. Download the application here and submit electronically via email.  All applications should be emailed to caprat@mccc.edu.  Awardees will be notified by the end of February.

Martin Luther King Observance Set for Monday
The college's annual Martin Luther King Day observance will be held at the Trenton Campus this Monday, Jan. 19 from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. in Kerney Hall. The event's theme is “Passing the Torch - Honoring the Past, Celebrating the Present and Looking Towards the Future.” The program features MCCC's Youth College students, who will read poems and essays and perform inspirational music. This year's event is a special tribute to the Civil Rights Movement of Selma, Ala., in honor of its 50th anniversary in March. Read more here

"FAFSA Days" Begin Jan. 31
The Financial Aid Office will host "FAFSA Days" (formally known as College Goal Sunday) for Mercer County residents during the months of January and February. This is a national event focused on urban communities throughout each county, where prospective students will get on-site assistance with the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) online form in both Spanish and English, free of charge. Sessions will be held Jan. 31, 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., Kerney Hall (snow day Feb. 7); Feb. 12, 6 p.m. to 9 p.m., Nottingham High School; and Feb. 21, 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., Kerney Hall (snow day Feb. 28). Study Abroad Cuba Info Session Jan. 29
Faculty members Gianna Durso-Finley and Craig Coenen will lead a seven-day Study Abroad tour to Cuba May 18-25. The cost is $3,300 and is open to all faculty, students, staff, and community members. To participate, click here to complete the application and provide a $500 deposit to the Study Abroad Office, BS109, by Feb. 2. An information session will be held Jan. 29, noon to 1 p.m., in CM108.

"Cat on a Hot Tin Roof" Comes to Kelsey Feb. 6 to 15
Lies, love unrequited, and poisonous greed combine for a night of high intensity drama in "Cat on a Hot Tin Roof," coming to Kelsey Theatre Feb. 6-15. Theatre to Go (T2G) and Pierrot Productions present this Tennessee Williams classic. Read more here.

Mercer Joins BCC, NJ Higher Ed, AACCNJ in Literacy Program
Mercer will partner with Burlington County College, the New Jersey Office of the Secretary of Higher Education and the African American Chamber of Commerce of New Jersey in a program to deliver more than 40,000 free, high-quality books to children in need through the First Book Initiative. New Show Debuts on WWFM
On Jan. 2, WWFM The Classical Network launched a new program, "Well-Tempered Baroque," a one-hour show devoted to the music of the Baroque era. The show is hosted by Dr. Lewis R. Baratz, an adjunct professor of music at MCCC. The program airs on Fridays at 11 p.m., with a repeat on Mondays at 2 p.m. Read more here.

Call For College Catalog Updates
The 2015-2016 College Catalog is now in production, with content review and updates being solicited college-wide. Anyone with updates to contribute should contact the Point Person (dean, director, supervisor, coordinator, etc.) for the area involved. That person likely received notification this week for submitting any revisions for their area. For further assistance, contact Brad Kent in Publications at ext. 3772 or kentb@mccc.edu.

Multi-Career Connection for Alumnus Barbara Flood
Barbara Flood '06 (A.S., Nursing) thanks Mercer for two careers – her first in data processing (A.A.S., 1983), and more recently, in nursing at Capital Health, where she was recently promoted to inpatient cardiology nurse manager of the Telemetry Floor. Read more here.

Jan. 24: Jurying for "Mercer County Artists." For artists aged 18 or older who live, work, or attend school in Mercer County. Read more here.

Jan. 25: Summer Camps Open House. MCCC camps will host an Open House on Sunday, Jan. 25 from noon to 3 p.m. Spread the word to family and friends. The options for summer fun for youngsters ages 6 to 16 are practically endless. Read the details here.
