MAN-U

(MANHOOD UNIVERSITY)

MENTOR PROGRAM

MAN-U is a community college minority

male mentoring program specifically geared

towards giving or minority male students

support and guidance while pursuing their

degree or certificate. In "Aspirations to

Achievement: Men of Color and Community

Colleges," the Center for Community

College Student Engagement reveals that

even though black and Latino students at

two-year institutions show more interest

than their white peers in obtaining an

associate degree or certificate, only 5 percent

actually accomplish that goal within three

years, compared to 32 percent for white

students. The mission of my program is

simple: to make sure that every male in my

program graduates from Mercer and/or

transfers to a four year institution. If you

are enrolled, or if you know of any minority

males that will be attending Mercer County

Community College or are currently enrolled

at the college, please email me:

cartert@mccc.edu

or call me at (609) 570-3166. The time has

come for us to change the way the world sees

us as Black and Latino men. Positive,

Powerful and Educated is what we will

become.

 MAN-U

Student Executive Council

The Trenton Campus Student Executive

Council is responsible for most of the

activities that happen on and off campus

for the students and the community. Some

of the activities include: Bus trips to New

York City and The Baltimore Harbor,

Morgan State University Homecomings,

Open Mic Nights, GospelFest, Resume

Writing Workshops, Student Leadership

Conferences, Spring Day, and many

community service activities as well. Any

student at the Trenton Campus can join the

Student Executive Council. If you’re a

student that is serious about making

changes at Mercer and in the community,

please join us--we would love to have you.
