Hamilton Native Heather Kerlin Commits to MCCC Softball

West Windsor, N.J. – Mercer County Community College (MCCC) continues to strengthen its softball program with the addition of Steinert High School’s Heather Kerlin.

A local athlete from Hamilton, Kerlin will join the Lady Vikings as a first and third baseman. Softball Head Coach Ryan Zegarski noted that her persevering nature will be an asset as MCCC looks to return to action once the coronavirus pandemic subsides.

“Heather is a very hardworking corner infielder,” Zegarski said. “She is well liked by her high school and travel teammates and she will soon be appreciated by the Mercer Vikings as well.”

Kerlin’s talents in the infield are bolstered by her confidence at the plate. As a junior, Kerlin batted a .320 and proved capable of getting hot at the plate. Against Trenton High School on April 3, Kerlin went 4-for-4 at bat, each time bringing home a runner and contributing to a 16-0 shutout win.

Off the field, Kerlin is a member of both the Steinert student government, as well as the Spanish club. After Mercer, she aspires to earn her master’s degree in health science.
