Transfer Workshop for The College of New Jersey on Feb. 11
Spread the work about transfer workshops this week. On Tuesday, Feb. 18, Rider University will meet with students from noon to 1 p.m. in ET217, with Montclair University on campus from noon to 1 p.m. on Feb. 20 in ET219. For a full schedule fo transfer events for the spring semester, click here. 
Black History Month Continues This Week
Multiple Black History Month activities are on tap for this week, starting with three events on the James Kerney Campus: A "Jeopardy" style game show from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. in Kerney Hall on Feb. 19; a screening of "When They See Us (Part 3)" at JKC at noon and 5 p.m, also in Kerney Hall; and TRIO Day at 10 a.m., Kerney Hall and the Center City Cafe. On Feb. 22, it's "A Celebration of Song and Dance," 3-6 p.m., in Kelsey Theatre. For a full list of events, click here. 
NJ FAFSA Days Return Feb. 22
If your students are returning to school, MCCC is opening its West Windsor and James Kerney Campuses for a series of events focused on streamlining the process to submit the free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). Two more NJ FAFSA Days are scheduled for the spring 2020 Semester: Saturday, Feb. 22 in AD223 on the West Windsor Campus, and Saturday, Feb. 29 in KC225 at JKC. Both events are scheduled to run from 9 a.m. to noon. Students should bring their 2018 tax transcripts. Those under age 24 should bring a parent's tax transcript. Grateful Dead 3-Album Tribute Concert Comes to MCCC’s Kelsey Theatre March 6-8
Calling all Deadheads young and old! The Reock & Roll Revue returns to the Kelsey Theatre stage March 6-8 for a psychedelic, tie-dyed weekend of performances with the band’s newest show “The Grateful Dead: The Studio Recordings 1967-1977.” Read more here

Last Call for College Catalog Updates; Due Feb. 21
The 2020-21 College Catalog is now in production, with content review [current edition here] and updates being solicited college-wide. Anyone with updates to contribute should contact the point person (dean, director, supervisor, coordinator, etc.) for the area involved. That person likely received direct notification for submitting any revisions for their area. For further assistance, contact Brad Kent in Publications at ext. 3772 or kentb@mccc.edu. 
Artist Zahar Vaks Feeds His Abstracts With Life Experiences at The Gallery
 “Marinate on that for a bit,” said Zahar Vaks to a group of art aficionados at MCCC during his “Conversation With the Artist.” The lecture was the kick off to Vaks’ art exhibit “Searching for the Cultural Plumb Bob,” which runs through March 5 at The Gallery. The artist’s passionate and lively presentation, complete with film and slide show, demonstrated that food isn’t just for human consumption. Read more here.
Foundation Scholarship Fundraiser Sports Parisian Theme
On the heels of a visit from French Ambassador to the U.S. Philippe Étienne to Mercer, the MCCC Foundation has announced “Parisian Soirée” is the theme to the college’s annual spring scholarship celebration on April 17, from 6 p.m. to 10:30 p.m. at The Stone Terrace in Hamilton, with all proceeds to support student scholarships. This year’s event features a menu of Parisian-inspired fare, including hors d’oeuvres, an open bar, coffee and desserts, live music by Franklin-Alison Music, and a selection of chef’s table experiences. Softball Sophomore Paige Metz Honored at National Girls and Women in Sports Day
Paige Metz is ready to leave her mark on the sports world, and she came one step closer on Feb. 8, when the sophomore softball player got a chance to build her legacy when she was honored as part of National Girls and Women in Sports Day during a ceremony at Seton Hall University. Read here.

 

 

 


 

Reminders

Through May 6: Lunchtime Yoga, Zumba.   The Student Life and Leadership Department sponsors Yoga and Zumba classes for students, faculty, and staff. Monday Evening Yoga begins Feb. 10 and runs through May 4  in PE225 from 5 p.m. to 6 p.m. Tuesday Zumba starts Feb. 11 and continues through May 5 in the Gym from noon to 1 p.m. Wednesday Lunchtime Yoga begins Feb. 12 and runs through May 6 in the Gym from noon to 1 p.m. (No Classes the Week of Spring Break March 16-20).
