Kelsey Theatre Welcomes '12 Angry Men' Jan. 17-26

The life of a young man hangs in the balance and rests in the hands of 12 jurors in a seemingly open-and-shut case. However, can they set aside personal prejudices and preconceptions in the name of justice? That is the question for “12 Angry Men,” presented by Forté Dramatic Productions Jan. 17-26 at MCCC's Kelsey Theatre. Read more here.

MLK Day of Service Jan. 20

MCCC will be honoring the life and legacy of the Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. through action and deeds, and invites the community to participate during a Day of Service at the college’s James Kerney Campus. Read more here.

'Think Pink' Breast Cancer Awareness Night Jan. 21

MCCC will host its 10th annual Think Pink: Breast Cancer Awareness Night on Tuesday, Jan. 21. Mercer’s chapter of the American Association for Women in Community Colleges began the event in 2011 as a benefit for the Breast Cancer Research Center at the Princeton YWCA, an organization that provides critical support to patients during and after breast cancer treatment. Summer Camps Open House Jan. 26

MCCC invites families to a Summer Camps Open House on Sunday, Jan. 26, noon to 3 p.m., in the Student Center. (Snow date: Sunday, Feb. 2.) Camp directors will be on hand to provide overviews of all camp programs and answer questions about scheduling, staffing and pricing. Tours of MCCC's facilities will be available. More than 70 options are available for fun and enrichment during Summer 2020. The season begins June 22 and runs through August 14. More info here.

MCCC and Fulton Bank's Blood Drive Jan. 30

On Thursday, Jan. 30,MCCC and Fulton Bank of New Jersey will be hosting a Blood Drive. Come and donate at the Student Center, room SC104 from 11 a.m to 4 p.m. Take the chance to help save a life by donating blood. Read more here.

Black History Month Celebration at MCCC Begins Feb. 1

 “Destination vs. Reality” is the theme for Mercer County Community College’s (MCCC) 2020 observance of Black History Month. This February, the college will host a number of special events with an emphasis on culture, relationships and education, beginning with a  Fashion Show Scholarship Event at JKC on Feb. 1 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Read more here.

Women's Soccer Star-Studded Season Ends in Semi-Finals Upset
In the months since the Lady Vikings’ narrow defeat in the NJCAA playoffs, the team has had plenty to celebrate. A 12-6 record stands as the best season women’s soccer has had in Head Coach Elyse Diamond’s five-year tenure, matching the win total from the last three seasons combined. Read more here. 

 

MCCC Professor Sue Kozel's Research Recognized by the American Philosophical Society
One of the oldest academic and library institutions, The American Philosophical Society, has published an article by Assistant Adjunct and History Professor Sue Kozel about a hidden document she discovered in the Thomas Jefferson archives regarding an early proclamation by the Royal Governor of Virgina to grant freedom to escaped slaves.
