WEST WINDSOR, NJ – Mercer County Community College is celebrating Women’s History Month 2024 with informative and engaging events. Celebrated throughout March, this month honors the achievements and contributions of women in the United States, past, present, and future, who have paved the way to break down gender barriers and create equity.
“As a society, we are still trying to figure out what equality looks like and we haven’t yet begun to process equity in its truest form” said Marvin Carter, Director of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion, and Title IX Coordinator at Mercer County Community College.
In honor of Women’s History Month, MCCC will host a few special events emphasizing important issues in the fight for equality. The events will be held in person on MCCC’s West Windsor Campus at 1200 Old Trenton Road, NJ, and virtually.
Monday, March 25 – Intersectionality - A partnership between the Department of Education and Training and the Rainbow Alliance, this student-led conversation and luncheon will focus on the core values and need for visibility and security for women in today’s society.
Tuesday, March 26 – Birthing Justice: Film and Discussion - A faculty-led panel discussion featuring Dr. Edward Avery-Natale, Dr. Barbara Krasner, and Professor Alvyn Haywood will be held in CM 108 at 12:00 p.m.
Wednesday, March 27 – A Women’s Voice: Panel Discussion – This virtual discussion will cover issues in the voting booth and the upcoming election season. This program will take place virtually at 6:30 p.m. https://zoom.us/s/7305181386#success.
