NJBIZ Honors MCCC’s Erica Brown Oliver with Leading Women in Business Award

WEST WINDSOR – Mercer County Community College (MCCC) announced today that NJBIZ has named Erica Brown Oliver, Interim Vice President for Advancement, Executive Director of the MCCC Foundation, and Executive Director for Marketing and Communications, one of the 2024 Leading Women in Business honorees in the Traditional category. Formerly known as the NJBIZ Best Fifty Women in Business, the award now recognizes 60 professionals across New Jersey who have made a significant impact on business and their communities.

Oliver’s leadership, proven ability to strategize, results-driven vision, and versatility have contributed to her successful marketing career in industries ranging from travel, publishing, retail, healthcare and more recently, higher education. For the past year and a half, she has played an influential role in shaping MCCC’s vision. Passionate about marketing, Oliver has used her foresight to provide invaluable support to help make key decisions regarding branding, business expansion, and student success. Responsible for the College’s communications strategies, positioning and messaging, Oliver also plays a critical role in elevating College awareness through innovative engagement, in support of the institutions’ academic, enrollment, and advancement objectives.

“Erica is a core member of the leadership team,” said Dr. Deborah E. Preston, President. “Her valued input, knowledge, and skills have had a powerful impact on the growth of MCCC and the future of our students.”

Among Oliver’s other awards include three advertising awards, and the West Orange Human Relations Commission – Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr’s “Love of Service” award. She is also a published author; following her passions led Erica to write her first book, When I Grow Up…Just Imagine which features 14 lifelong tips to inspire children to pursue their own unique passions. Oliver is also actively involved in service organizations including Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated (Pi Theta Omega Chapter), The Links Incorporated (Essex County Chapter) and Jack & Jill of America, Incorporated (North Jersey Chapter). She earned her BA in Economics from Rutgers University, her mini-MBA in Social Media Marketing from Rutgers Business School Executive Education, and her MBA from William Woods University. Reflecting on the NJBIZ award, Oliver said “I am humbled and thrilled to be recognized along with this group of amazingly talented women, and I look forward to sharing this honor with them.”

The NJBIZ Leading Women in Business Award will be presented at a ceremony on October 15, 2024, from 6-9 p.m. at the The Palace at Somerset Park. The event will include a cocktail reception, an award presentation, and a dessert and networking reception.
