WEST WINDSOR – Mercer County Community College’s new Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) Training Program is trucking right along! In partnership with Ancora Education, this program, offered through MCCC’s Department of Workforce Education, is designed to prepare learners to sit for the CDL A exam, which is provided through the course.

Through this program, students can become licensed and get started in one of the most in-demand careers in the country in as little as four weeks. Fueled by a curriculum that provides a 4:1 student teacher ratio, students are trained to inspect and operate tractor-trailers and to assume driver responsibilities on the road and at pick-up/delivery points. Covered topics include: vehicle inspections, cargo handling, size/weight laws, range maneuvers, general maintenance procedures, motor carrier safety regulations, hours of service, trip planning, accident prevention, and more. Students will also receive instruction in Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations and be introduced to behind-the-wheel requirements including basic instruments, controls, and operating characteristics of a commercial motor vehicle.

This collaboration reinforces our ongoing commitment to develop and offer programs that equip our community with the skills needed to meet a growing job market, both in Mercer County and beyond.”
