West Windsor, N.J. – When Mercer County Community College (MCCC) students return to campus in August and September for the first time in 17 months, they will find a spacious, attractive, and, most importantly, convenient new place to get their business done at the college.
Located on the second floor of the Student Center on the West Windsor Campus, the MCCC OneStop Center is a central destination that includes all enrollment and student services. (Until August 16, enrollment and other student services will continue to be offered online; virtual services will be available even after the center opens.)
Measuring approximately 25,000 square feet, the center features multiple reception desks and a waiting area full of colorful, comfortable furniture. Additional spaces include group and individual study areas, student computer stations and more. Specific offices for admissions, transfer services, veteran and military services, and student records can also be found there. The project was funded by the Chapter 12 program through the county and the state.
According to Savita Bambhrolia, MCCC Dean of Enrollment Management and Student Experience (EMSE), the OneStop aims to cover all of the enrollment bases: course registration, new student advisement, bursar/tuition needs and financial aid.
“Our goal is for students to meet with OneStop staff members and leave with their questions answered and many of their issues addressed,” Bambhrolia said. “Students will be able to accomplish multiple tasks like registration and payment in one location.”
Adds MCCC President Dr. Jianping Wang, “The OneStop Center was created to allow students to take care of Mercer business in fewer visits and less time. We want our students to concentrate on what matters most: learning and earning their college degrees. We are grateful to Mercer County officials for their support of this project.”
Planning for the center began in 2018, with construction taking approximately 11 months. It replaces an area of the Student Center that previously housed numerous separate offices and office cubicles, and corridors that were not always easy to navigate.
“We now have a well-lit, welcoming design and layout, with walk-up front desks and staff ready to handle a variety of tasks. We expect that students will enjoy visiting the OneStop and will take advantage of the multiple resources here,” Bambhrolia said.
