Mercer County Community College’s First Virtual Giving Tuesday Helping Fund Scholarships for Students in Need

Mercer Foundation Board to Match All Gifts Up to $10,000 to Double Impact

11/6/20

Mercer County Community College (MCCC) has launched its first Virtual Giving Day Fundraising Campaign to support the Mercer Fund, which provides financial assistance to students in need.

In these unprecedented times, students served by MCCC have been especially hard-hit by the pandemic and the ensuing economic crisis. The College believes it is more important than ever to help these exceptional students pursue their dreams.

Members of the Mercer Foundation Board have stepped forward to donate $10,000 to create a matching gift challenge for the Giving Tuesday Campaign. Through their personal donations, all gifts, including those already given during the campaign, will be matched up to $10,000 through November 17, doubling their impact.

"Because of the pandemic and its economic toll, many Mercer students are facing significant unexpected financial burdens,” says Aamir Rehman, Ed.D., chair of the Foundation Board. “It is critically important for us to provide support to them when they need it most. The members of the Foundation Board are honored to participate in the Giving Tuesday Campaign, and our matching gift demonstrates our commitment to Mercer’s extraordinary students.”

Many MCCC students come from backgrounds in which college is their best path to a better life, but significant financial obstacles stand in their way. Supporting them by making a gift to Mercer’s Giving Tuesday Campaign can help to make a profound difference in the lives of many students.
