West Windsor, N.J. – Mercer County Community College’s (MCCC) Medical Laboratory Technology (MLT) department is partnering with the Miller-Keystone Blood Center in Trenton to host a Blood Drive on Thursday, Oct. 22 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Donations will be collected in the Miller-Keystone donation bus in the athletics parking lot on the West Windsor campus, 1200 Old Trenton Rd.

“In order for medical laboratory technicians to appropriately care for patients and provide safe and effective blood component transfusions, it is important to recruit donors and supply blood to blood centers such as Miller-Keystone,” said Lisa Shave, coordinator of MCCC’s MLT program.

Shave added that this year, the blood drive is taking extra precautions to keep donors safe amid the coronavirus pandemic. The bus will only accept donations via appointment and will ensure that all lobby and donor chairs are placed six feet apart.

Additionally, all donation staff will wear personal protective equipment and will ask that all donors complete a pre-screening test and temperature check.

To donate, please make an appointment at GiveAPint.org and use the sponsor code 9117. Photo ID is required. Donors are asked to eat within four hours of donating, and to drink plenty of water the day before donating blood.
