West Windsor, N.J. – Mercer County Community College's (MCCC’s) Chorus and Jazz Band will present Spring Concerts in May at Kelsey Theatre on the West Windsor Campus. The public is invited. Admission is free.
The MCCC Chorus, under the direction of Adjunct Music Professor William Marshall, will perform its spring concert on Monday, May 2 at 7:30 p.m. The concert will also be live-streamed at: vimeo.com/event/2013211.
The MCCC Jazz Band, directed by Music Department Coordinator Scott Hornick, will perform its spring concert on May 4 at 7:30 p.m. In addition to a in-person performance, the concert will also be live-streamed at vimeo.com/event/2013248.
Composed of music majors and other students from across the campus, the chorus will perform works from a variety of musical styles ranging from popular music to traditional choral music with selections from Stephen Sondheim, Eric Whitacre, W. A. Mozart and along with an excerpt from the American biographical musical drama “The Greatest Showman.”
“I am so happy to see our chorus back at Kelsey Theatre,” said MCCC Music Department Teaching Assistant Elizabeth Rzasa. “I am proud of their accomplishments at MCCC and we are all looking forward to an inspirational live event.”
The Mercer County Community College Jazz Band will present a varied and exciting program featuring works by George Gershwin, Antonio Carlos Jobim, Richard Rodgers, Charlie Parker and MCCC Music Department's adjunct professor Dr. Mark Jurcisin. Professionals from the tristate jazz scene will perform alongside Mercer County’s up and coming jazz students and vocalists.
All selections will feature improvisations by jazz students, who will be performing in small group settings as well as with the full band.
