Alumnus Daniel Klim Appointed Chair of the MCCC Foundation Board

6/6/22

West Windsor, N.J. – Mercer County Community College (MCCC) alumnus Daniel Klim ('96), of East Windsor,  has been named chair of the MCCC Foundation’s Board of Directors, effective July 1. Klim succeeds outgoing chair Dr. Aamir Rehman after serving as 1st vice chair of the Foundation since 2020.

Klim, who played baseball for the Vikings from 1994 to 1996, recalls Mercer as a great place to begin his college journey. “This college is full of great memories for me, and it served as my springboard into Rowan University,” Klim said. “I am truly honored to have been appointed to this position. As an MCCC student and athlete, I acquired a wealth of information both in and out of the classroom that has served me well in life. I welcome a platform to share my story of how MCCC helped me get to where I am today.”

Under his leadership, the Foundation will continue to focus on developing community understanding and support of the college and its programs while establishing partnerships and relationships that will be mutually beneficial to both the college and its supporters.

While serving as a vice chair on the Foundation Board, Klim developed the Mercer Athletics Committee and MCCC Athletics Hall of Fame, along with past Foundation Board member Charles Plohn, Jr. The Hall of Fame will induct its second class of honorees on June 11. Additionally, he helped the Foundation move to a digital platform for fundraising, which led to increased contributions through the use of mobile technology. Klim also served as the Foundation representative on the MCCC Presidential Search Committee this past year.

Professionally, Klim is executive director of the American Physical Therapy Association of New Jersey (APTANJ) and the APTA Delaware (APTADE), the organizations representing the interests of physical therapy professionals in both states.

“Dan’s longstanding passion for MCCC began during his time as a student-athlete in our halls and on our fields more than 25 years ago,” said Joseph T. Claffey, vice president for College Advancement and executive director of the MCCC Foundation. “MCCC left an indelible mark on his life. In return, Dan has shown an unyielding commitment to ensuring that the college continues to foster an environment where students can grow personally and academically as they work toward achieving their dreams.”

In addition to playing baseball for MCCC, Klim’s worked in the college’s Athletics Department from 1994 to 1996. He transferred to Rowan University, where he earned his bachelor’s degree. He earned his Master of Science in Management from Thomas Edison University.

In 2018, Klim served as the Commencement speaker for MCCC’s 51st graduating class, where he was awarded an associate degree in Humanities during the ceremony.
