West Windsor, N.J. – The Mercer County Community College (MCCC) Vikings have been unstoppable when pitcher Ronnie Voacolo is on the mound.

The sophomore has pitched in four National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) Region 19 games this season, three of which were starts. All three resulted in wins for the Vikings and helped the team to a second place record in NJCAA Region XIX (7-3).

You can feel Ronnie’s presence and confidence when he takes the mound, even from the dugout,” Head Coach Fred Carella said. “Ronnie is one of our captains on and off the field, and he’s continually been someone we want to have the ball when it matters most.”

Recently, in a complete game against region rival Rowan County at Burlington, Voacolo limited the opponents to just three hits and one walk, while striking out eight players. “Through 21 innings of conference play Ronnie’s managed an outstanding 0.85 ERA,” Carella said. Even extrapolating that out to all eight games he’s pitched, Voacolo has posted an impressive 2.55 ERA.

Voacolo and the Vikings will be back in action at home on Thursday, April 24 against Ocean County at 3 p.m.
