Poland is the Topic of Holocaust Center Discussion on Sept. 24
Prof. Laura Knight, Dr. Jack Tabor, and Dr. Craig Coenen will lead the Holocaust, Genocide and Human Rights Center's next discussion titled, “Poland and the Holocaust—Reflections on Mercer’s Four Study Abroad Trips to Eastern Europe, 2013-2019.” See the full list of Holocaust Center events here.

The College of New Jersey is the Focus of Transfer Workshop on Sept. 24
The next Transfer Tuesdays workship will focus on The College of New Jersey. These events are sponsored by MCCC's Career and Transfer Services Office. For a full list of events, click here.

2019 MCCC Visual Arts Faculty Exhibit Reception on Sept. 25
The focus is on the faculty for the first art show of the season at The Gallery at Mercer County Community College, with the college’s own Visual Arts faculty members putting their personal works on display. The “2019 MCCC Visual Arts Faculty Exhibit” runs from through Thursday, Oct. 10. The community is invited to a reception on Wednesday, Sept. 25 from 5 to 7:30 p.m. Read more here.

Maternal Mortality is Topic for MCCC Lecture Sept. 26
The national crisis of maternal mortality is the topic of an upcoming lecture at MCCC on Sept. 26. The lecture, “Maternal Mortality: A National Crisis and the Movement to Save Lives,” is hosted by Casey Cattell, Heroes for Moms ambassador and co-author of Nobody Told Me About That (2018). Comedy Farce ‘Leading Ladies’ Comes to Kelsey Theatre Beginning Sept. 27
Shakespeare, desperation, romance and a little cross dressing abound when Maurer Productions OnStage presents the Ken Ludwig comedy “Leading Ladies” at Kelsey Theatre. The production, called “a cross between ‘Some Like It Hot’ and ‘Twelfth Night,’” is a hilarious comedy by the author of “Lend Me A Tenor” and “Moon Over Buffalo.” It is the story of two English Shakespearean actors, Leo and Jack, who attempt to get their hands on an elderly lady's fortune by posing as her long lost nieces. Mental Health Resource Fair on Oct. 10
The college will host a Mental Health Resource Fair on Thursday, Oct. 10 from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. On display will be the "In Their Shoes" exhibit, which seeks to increase understanding, empathy and kindness toward those struggling in silence and to encourage them to seek help.  See the flyer here.

Leapin’ Lizards! It’s ‘Annie, The Movie Sing Along’ at Kelsey Theatre Oct. 19
The sun will come out tomorrow – but for two shows only – when Theatre To Go and MCCC's Kelsey Theatre present “Annie, The Movie Sing-Along,” where the audience is the star!  Read more here.

MCCC Celebrates Hispanic Heritage Month
With an eye towards festivity, reflection, and unity, MCCC has planned a variety of event to celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month. The month began with opening ceremonies, featuring guest speaker Dr. Maria Teresa Montilla, Executive Director of the Institute of Latino Studies in Bloomingdale. Automotive Tech Students Get Glimpse into Future Careers at MoPar CAP Event
Some of the college's Automotive Technology students spent a day at the track on Friday, Sept. 13, visiting the Maple Grove Raceway as part of a National Hot Rod Association event series. Students met with car dealership reps, toured the track and chatted with professional driver Matt Hagan. Read more here.

Holocaust Center Announces Fall Semester Events
As the Mercer County Holocaust, Genocide, and Human Rights Education Center announces its programming for the fall semester, MCCC Professor of History Dr. Craig Coenen, who directs the center with community member Edie Serafine, says that upcoming events are designed to inform, challenge and enlighten students and the community. MCCC Men’s Soccer Breaks Into National Ranking Top 5

Mercer men’s soccer’s earned its highest ranking of the season on Tuesday, Sept. 17, placing fifth in the National Junior College Athletic Association’s Weekly poll. Read more here.

Viking in the Spotlight: Women's Soccer Player Gabby DeLisa
The Mercer women’s soccer team has enjoyed one of its hottest season starts in recent memory. Behind that start is Gabby DeLisa, a freshman center back who has been the engine of the Lady Vikings’ defense. Read more here.

Reminders

Oct 2: Campus Blood Drive. The first blood drive of the year, sponsored by Medical Laboratory Technology students, will be held on Wednesday, Oct. 2, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. in SC104. The donor eligibility information sheet, as well and the IScreen information (where donors can complete the history questionnaire ahead of time) is available here. In addition, a raffle sponsored by MLT students at the conclustion of the blood drive will award a Wawa gift card to one of the donors. See the flyer here.

Oct. 7: Poetry, Short Story Reading. If you are an aspiring author or poet, you won't want to miss the MCCC Fiction and Poetry Reading on Monday, Oct. 7, at 6 p.m. in SC104, sponsored by the West Windsor Learning Center. All members from the campus community and the community at-large are invited to read their original work, or to listen to what others present. Light refreshements will be served. Short stories or poems can be submitted to writingcenter@mccc.edu. See the flyer here.

Oct. 9: Nursing Program Accreditation Public Meeting. MCCC will host a site review for continuing accreditation of the Nursing program by the Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing. The public is invited to meet the site visit team and share comments about the program during a meeting on Wednesday, Oct. 9, from 3-4 p.m. in CM107. Written comments are also welcome, and must be submitted by Oct. 1. See the public meeting notice and details on submitting written comments here.

Zumba, Yoga Classes Now Underway. Yoga and Zumba classes for staff and students are now under way! Evening yoga continues through Dec. 9 in PE 225 from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. Wednesday lunchtime yoga classes continue through Dec. 11 in the gym, noon to 1 p.m. See the flyer here. Zumba classes will be held on Tuesdays, through Dec. 10, in the gym from noon to 1 p.m. See the flyer here. There will be no classes during the week of Thanksgiving break. Classes are presented through the Student Life and Leadership office. here.
