"What Makes You a Leader?" is the topic for the 3rd Annual Leaders Symposium to be held at MCCC Wednesday, Oct. 2 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Join us to share leadership perspectives, discuss advancement, challenges and networking experiences that can impact your professional and personal development. Each presentation will be a 40-minute talk about leadership followed by a 10-minute Q & A session.The call for proposals deadline is Aug. 1. MCCC's JKC Gallery presents contemporary interpretations of the genre of portraiture by ten current and former Visual Arts students. “The Figure a Portrait Makes” runs from Monday, July 29 through Friday, Aug. 23, with a reception from 3-6 p.m. on Aug. 2. That evening, the Music Department will also hold a concert at 5 p.m. at JKC to culminate the end of its Summer Jazz Institute. The perfect family musical, "Tom Sawyer," returns to MCCC’s Kelsey Theatre for the weekend of Aug. 2. This highly imaginative theatrical adaptation of the Mark Twain classic will be presented by The Yardley Players. It follows 14-year-old Tom Sawyer, growing up in the Missouri heartland, circa 1840. Community theater folks and their fans are in for a treat as Kelsey Theatre presents the "2019 Kelsey Awards" on Saturday, Aug. 17, starting at 7 p.m. The evening will celebrate and recognize the best theatrical productions and performers from Kelsey Theatre’s 2018-19 season. Read more here.

The Mercer chapter of the American Society of Highway Engineers (ASHE) used classroom knowledge to create a solution to a campus drainage problem. Their solution was featured on the front page of the ASHE Scanner Magazine. Read more here.
