Black History Month Events Continue Feb. 12, 14, 16
MCCC's Black History Month celebration continues this week with events Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday. On Tuesday, Feb. 12, a panel discussion entitled "Wisdom Through the Ages" will be held at noon in SC104. On Thursday, Feb. 14, there will be a screening of the movie "The Hate You Give" from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. in LA229 on the West Windsor Campus and in Kerney Hall on the James Kerney Campus. The week's events conclude on Saturday, Feb. 16 with a spoken word African storyteller at 3 p.m in Kelsey Theatre. See the full list of Black History Month activities here.

Sierra Club Lecture to Focus on Sea Level Rise Feb. 13
The Sierra Club of NJ – Central Group presents its first lecture of the semester on Wednesday, Feb. 13 in SC104. Dr. Kenneth Miller, Professor in the Department of Earth and Planetary Sciences at Rutgers University, will present “Climate Change or Sea Level Rise, Should I Sell my Shore House?” The event begins with pizza at 6 p.m., followed by the program at 6:30 p.m. Dr. Miller has his Ph.D. from MIT’s Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution Joint Program in Oceanography and specializes in the oceanography of the North Atlantic. Holocaust Center Hosts Screening of 'Only a Number' Feb. 14
February events continue at the Mercer County Holocaust, Genocide and Human Rights Education Center on Thursday, Feb. 14, with the screening of the film “Only a Number,” produced by local filmmaker Steve Besserman, whose parents survived the Holocaust. Other February events include a student roundtable on “Capitalism: Rooted in Democracy or Fascism?” on Feb. 19, followed by special guest Al Hepner, a Holocaust survivor who will discuss "Avrumele: Recollections of a Hidden Child" on Feb. 28. 'Four Weddings and an Elvis' at Kelsey Theatre Feb. 15 to 24
A Las Vegas wedding chapel is about to host some rather unusual couples, along with "The King" himself. The Yardley Players present "Four Weddings and an Elvis." It's laugh-out-loud funny -- and a little romantic too! Read more here.

Camp College Info Session Feb. 16
Learn more about summer camp opportunities at MCCC during a Camp College Information Session, to be held Saturday, Feb. 16 from noon to 2 p.m. in the Conference Center. The session includes details on flexible scheduling and more than 70 program offerings. Mercer Dance Ensemble Open Auditions Feb. 17-18
The Mercer Dance Ensemble has announced open auditions for "The New Edge of Dance," a contemporary dance concert to be performed on Saturday, May 11 at 8 p.m. and Sunday, May 12 at 2 p.m. Auditions will be held on Sunday, Feb.17 from 10 a.m. to 11:30 a.m., and Feb. 18 from 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. in CM122 on the West Windsor Campus. The audition will consist of learning two dance sequences and a dance improvisation. Those auditioning are asked to bring a photo and résumé, and to wear clothing that shows the lines of the body. If dance clothing is not available, dancers are asked to wear comfortable clothing that allows free movement. Audition age starts at 16. Questions? Next Health Professions Info Session Feb. 28
Current and prospective students interested in learning about health profession degree programs, requirements, employment opportunities, career paths, the application process, and more can do so at an information session on Thursday, Feb. 28 at noon in KC240 on the James Kerney Campus. Tickets Now Available for Monday Dinner at Student Restaurant
MCCC's HRIM Program will once again present fine dining on Monday nights at the Student Restaurant! Tickets are now on sale for Monday dinners, beginning March 4 and continuing through April 29. Seating is from 6:15 to 7 p.m. in ES111. (Note: The restaurant is closed March 18 for Spring Break). Please allow approximately one hour for your dining experience. (The dining room closes at 8 p.m.) Each week features an amuse bouche and dessert special! For more information and the menu, click here.

Enrichment, Excitement, Exploration on Tap in Summer Youth Programs
From June 17 through Aug. 16, MCCC will once again open its West Windsor Campus to children and teens ages 6 to 17. Registration is currently under way for a diverse list of camp and workshop offerings designed to pique the interests of just about every child. Read more here.

Boosting College Success Through Title III Initiatives
MCCC students are diverse in every way imaginable. So it’s no surprise that to truly make a difference in student success, Mercer’s support services must be individualized, holistic and proactive. Thanks to a $2.25 million Strengthening Institutions Grant awarded to MCCC in 2016, the college has been able to invest significantly in enhancing those services. Read more here.

'Think Pink' Fundraiser Breaks Record for Breast Cancer Resource Center
It was a total team effort for breast cancer awareness at MCCC on Jan. 31. For the ninth consecutive year, the Athletics Department and Mercer’s chapter of the American Association for Women in Community Colleges co-hosted “Think Pink for Breast Cancer Awareness Night,” a fundraiser to benefit the Breast Cancer Resource Center (BCRC) of the YWCA Princeton. A community of Vikings fans came out to support the event, which raised over $1,000, almost doubling last year’s total. All proceeds will be donated to BCRC, which provides support to breast cancer patients and their families during and following treatment. Read more here.

MCCC Foundation to Host Fundraiser With Old Havana Theme April 5
Break out the straw fedora, white sport coat, or the floral print dress and get ready for “A Night in Old Havana,” the theme for this year’s MCCC Foundation scholarship fundraiser, “Spring Into Student Success.” Now in its 30th year, “Spring Into Student Success” will be held on Friday, April 5, from 6 p.m. to 11 p.m. at The Stone Terrace, 2275 Kuser Road in Hamilton. Reminders

Through February 21: 'Iron and Water' at the JKC Gallery. Trenton-based photographer C.a. Shofed's exhibit "Iron and Water" continues at the James Kerney Campus Gallery through Feb. 21. The exhibit features images depicting the remnants and artifacts of an era that helped build the industrial American city. Read more here.

Through March 7: 'Saturated Geometry' at the WWC Gallery.
The Gallery at MCCC will showcase works by five artists in its group exhibit "Saturated Geometry" through Thursday, March 7. The works of these artists offer their interpretations of formal geometric abstraction and color. Read more here.

Through April 10: Tax Prep Assistance.
MCCC, in cooperation with United Way of Greater Mercer County and the IRS Voluntary Income Tax Assistance (VITA) program, will offer free tax return preparation on Wednesdays through April 10 in SC104, 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. (No session during Spring Break.) To learn more, see the flyer here.

Exercise Classes for Spring:
Exercise classes for the spring semester have begun. Yoga is held on Mondays from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. in PE225 and on Wednesdays, from noon to 1 p.m. in the gym. Zumba classes are on Tuesdays from noon to 1 p.m. in the gym. Presented by Student Life and Leadership, classes are free and open to both students and staff. No classes will be held during Spring Break.

Continue to Spread the Word about Free Tuition Through New State Program (CCOG).
As active ambassadors for MCCC, all employees are asked to continue to spread the word to family and friends about the state's new Community College Opportunity Grant (CCOG). Also consider passing this information along to churches and community organizations for their newsletters, announcements, and information racks. Hard copies of the flyer are available in the AD Executive Suite, at the Information Desk at the JKC Student Commons, and at the Admissions and Financial Aid suites in the Student Center.
