WWC Exhibit ‘Saturated Geometry’ Opens Today; Reception Feb. 6
The Gallery at MCCC will showcase works by five artists in its upcoming group exhibit "Saturated Geometry." The show runs from Monday, Jan. 28 to Thursday, Mar. 7. The community is invited to a reception on Wednesday, Feb. 6 from 5 to 7:30 p.m.
The artists will present talks preceding the community reception on Wednesday, Feb. 6 at noon.
According to Lucas Kelly, the show’s curator, the works of these artists offer their interpretations of formal geometric abstraction and color. Read more

Artist Talk at JKCG for Photo Exhibit ‘Iron and Water’ Jan. 30
Join Trenton-based photographer C.a. Shofed at the James Kerney Campus Gallery (JKCG) for an artist's talk on his exhbit “Iron and Water,” which features the remnants and the artifacts of the great industrial era that helped build the industrial American city. The community reception and talk take place Wednesday, Jan. 30, 5 to 7 p.m. The talk begins at 6 p.m. The show runs through Thursday, Feb. 21. Read more

MCCC, Fulton Bank to Hold Red Cross Blood Drive Jan. 31
MCCC and Fulton Bank of New Jersey are partnering to host an American Red Cross Blood Drive. The drive will take place Thursday, Jan. 31 from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. in the Student Center on the college's West Windsor campus, room 104.

'Think Pink' for Breast Cancer Awareness Jan. 31
The Athletics Department and AAWCC-Mercer are teaming up again to co-sponsor the 9th Annual Think Pink Breast Cancer Awareness Night on Thursday, Jan. 31 in the PE Building. The event includes a great night of basketball, as the women's team takes on Rowan at Gloucester at 5 p.m., followed by the men’s game against Gloucester at 7 p.m. Raffle tickets will be sold. Prizes donated by local businesses include tickets to a Princeton men's and women's basketball game, gift certificates to Carella's Shoes and Chocolates, Delorenzo's, Porfirio's and many more. The Athletics Department will also be selling “Think Pink” t-shirts. Event proceeds go to the Breast Cancer Resource Center of the YWCA-Princeton, a volunteer organization supporting those affected by breast cancer. So come out, wear pink, and help support Vikings basketball and a great cause on Jan. 31!
Opening Ceremonies for Black History Month Celebration at Kelsey Feb. 2
“Restoring a Cultural Legacy” is the theme for MCCC annual observance of Black History Month. This February, the college will host a number of special events with an emphasis on history, fellowship and inspiration.
The events are split between MCCC's West Windsor Campus and the James Kerney Campus (JKC). The celebration kicks off with the Opening Ceremony at Kelsey Theatre on Saturday, Feb. 2 at 3 p.m. The event will feature dance routines from African, hip-hop, tap and other genres. Read more

'Zorro,' Featuring Sounds of Gipsy Kings, Ends Feb. 3
This will be the weekend to catch "Zorro," a production that combines a compelling narrative with the red-hot music of the Gipsy Kings, with performances Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. This theater spectacular is a vivid retelling of the 19th century tale of Diego de la Vega. Read more

Zumba, Yoga Classes Resume Feb. 4
It’s time to get in shape and have some fun! Exercise classes for the spring semester begin the week of Feb. 4. Yoga is held on Mondays from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. in PE 225 and on Wednesdays, from noon to 1 p.m. in the gym. Zumba classes are on Tuesdays from noon to 1 p.m. in the gym. Presented by Student Life and Leadership, classes are free and open to both students and staff.

Current or prospective students interested in learning about health profession degree programs, requirements, employment opportunities, career paths, the application process, and more can do so at an upcoming information session. The next session date is Wednesday, Feb. 6 at 5 p.m. in MS172. Additional information sessions will be held on Wednesday, Feb. 6 at noon in KC240 on the James Kerney Campus; Wednesday, March 27, noon, MS172; and Thursday, April 11, 5 p.m., MS172. Influences of Androids in Film is MCCC Lecture Topic Feb. 7

Blade Runner to
Westworld, the portrayal and social influences of human-like robots – or androids – will be the topic of an upcoming lecture at MCCC.
“The Android Archetype: From
Metropolis to
Westworld” will be the subject of a lecture by Dr. William Indick, professor of Psychology at William Paterson University, at noon on Thursday, Feb. 7 in CM109. Read more

Witty and Poignant ‘Love Letters’ Comes to Kelsey Feb. 8 to 10
There’s a great way to celebrate Valentine’s Day this year and it happens on stage at Kelsey Theatre! Join M&M Stage Productions as they present “Love Letters,” A.R. Gurney’s 1988 Pulitzer Prize-nominated play, for one weekend only. Dates and show times are Friday, Feb. 8 and Saturday, Feb. 9 at 8 p.m., and Sunday, February 10 at 2 p.m. Read more

MCCC, Stockton University Sign New Dual Admission Agreement
The Dr. Harvey Kesselman, president of Stockton University, and MCCC President Dr.Jianping Wang announced a new dual admission and transfer partnership Jan. 24 that will help students make a smooth transition from MCCC to Stockton’s bachelor’s degree program.
The Transfer Pathways agreement builds a strong relationship between Stockton and MCCC by offering multiple opportunities for students to seamlessly pursue associate and bachelor’s degrees at the two institutions of higher education. Read more

Nursing Program Salutes 40 Graduates in Winter Pinning Ceremony
Several years of intensive academic and clinical preparation paid off on Jan. 15, as 40 Nursing students from Mercer County Community College (MCCC) were conferred their A.S. degrees during the program’s Pinning Ceremony. It was one of the largest classes in recent years and included nine male students. Read more

All Systems Go for Auto Tech Grad Charlie Eosso
Charlie Eosso ’18 (A.A.S., Automotive Technology) already knew his way around cars when he was still in high school and worked part-time as an automotive technician. Fast forward just a few years, and Charlie is an ASE master technician working at Route 33 Nissan in Hamilton. Read more

Five Sports Teams Come Out Swinging; Inaugural Season for Men’s Lacross
The Athletics program will be in full swing with the addition of two teams to its Spring 2019 schedule. In addition to baseball, softball and men’s tennis, the Vikings men’s lacrosse team begins its inaugural intercollegiate season, while women’s tennis has moved to spring competition after competing in the fall for many years. As active ambassadors for MCCC, all employees are asked to continue to spread the word to family and friends about the state's new Community College Opportunity Grant (CCOG). Also consider passing this information along to churches and community organizations for their newsletters, announcements, and information racks. Annual Report Available Online. The 2017-18 college and Foundation Annual Report is fresh off the press. This "turn-page" edition is an easy, clickable read that includes feature stories on eight graduates of the Class of 2018. The theme: "WE ARE MERCER!" Check it out here.
Kelsey Review Now Available.The latest edition of Kelsey Review, a literary arts journal featuring community writers published by MCCC, is now available at local libraries and online.
Now in its 37th year, Kelsey Review shares the fiction, creative non-fiction, poetry and photography of artists who live or work in Mercer County. Read more here.
