Mercer Chamber Ensemble Concert Dec. 9
Interested in attending a free concert? MCCC's Chamber Ensemble kicks off the musical season with its winter concert on Monday, Dec. 9 at 7:30 p.m. in Kelsey Theatre. Conducted by Jean Mauro, the ensemble will present pieces by J.S Bach, Fred Loesser, Cab Callaway, John Lennon, Paul McCartney and more. Read more here.

Center for Continuing Studies Phlebotomy and EKG Info Session Dec. 10

Art, Culinary Clubs to Hold Joint Fundraiser for TASK Dec. 11
The Art and Culinary clubs will join forces for a fundraiser on Wednesday, Dec. 11, in front of the Student Center Cafeteria from noon to 2 p.m.. Students will be selling bowls and mugs, handmade by Mercer Art students, for $5 and $10 respectively, and will include a mug of hot chocolate or a bowl of soup (vegitarian and non-vegitarian options) prepared by MCCC Culinary students. Cash only, please. Proceeds benefit the Trenton Area Soup Kitchen. See the flyer here.

Jazz Band Winter Concert Dec. 11
The winter music season continues on Wednesday, Dec. 11 with the Jazz Band's Winter Concert. Directed by Music Department Coordinator Scott Hornick, the band will perform a sensational mix of pieces, inclduding works by Dizzy Gillespie, Ray Charles, Bob Marley, Hoagy Carmichael, Johnny Mercer and more. Performing alongside Mercer County’s up-and-coming jazz students will be professionals from the tristate jazz scene. Read more here.

Photo Exhibit Balances Sadness, Joy at JKC Gallery; Reception Dec. 12
Balancing tragedy and sadness with joy is the focus of “Murder in the 4-0,” an exhibit by former New York Times photojournalist Edwin J. Torres, at the James Kerney Campus Gallery (JKCG) through Jan. 20. An opening reception and artist talk will be held on Thursday, Dec. 12, from 5 to 7 p.m. at JKCG, located in MCCC's Trenton Hall. The event is free and open to the public. While a photographer for the Times, Torres was assigned a year-long project documenting every homicide in the neighborhood where he grew up, a task that took an emotional toll -- leading him to also balance the bad with the good by showing how the community continued to carry on, with moments that ranged from the ordinary to the extraordinary, even in the shadow of hardship. AAWCC Wreath Decorating Fundraiser is Dec. 11
The American Association for Women in Community Colleges-Mercer (AAWCC) is having a Wreath Decorating Event on Friday, Dec. 13 from 12:30 p.m. to 1:30 p.m. in SC104. The cost is $20 per person. Horticulture Professor Amy Ricco will lead the decorating. The AAWCC is also collecting pajamas for Project Rise, for ages newborn to 18 years old. See the flyer here.

Experience Holiday Magic With 'The Nutcracker' at Kelsey, Dec. 13-15
Enjoy an afternoon of holiday magic, when dolls and sweets come to life and mice and toy soldiers do battle in the Dance Connection’s child-friendly version of the holiday classic “The Nutcracker,” Dec. 13 through 15 at Kelsey Theatre. Dates and times for this enduring hoiday favorite are Dec. 13 at 7 p.m. and Dec. 14 and 15, with shows at 1 p.m. and 4 p.m. Read more here.

MCCC Donors, Students Show off Superpowers at Annual Honors Recognition Luncheon
On Nov. 7, the MCCC Foundation called all superheroes to the college’s Honors Recognition Luncheon, an annual event that sees the college’s scholarship donors unite with student recipients in recognition of their academic achievement.Hosted at Mercer Oaks, the donors and recipients in attendance enjoyed a “Not All Heroes Wear Capes” themed afternoon, complete with table settings styled like comic book splash pages and a newspaper-inspired photo booth. MCCC Women’s Basketball Looks for Momentum to start 2019-20 Season
For MCCC women’s basketball head coach Mike Tenaglia the afterglow of a stellar coaching season did not last long. This season, the Lady Viking’s roster features a mixture of old and new faces, meaning he’ll start the season much the same as years past: learning. Read more about the season here.

Student Production 'Desires of a Criminal' Invited to Regional Festival
MCCC Dance and Theatre students have been invited to present "Desires of a Criminal" at the Kennedy Center American College Theater Regional Festival in Maryland from January 14 to 18, 2020. Ensembles and individuals who share their work at the Devised Theatre Showcase will receive responses from professional artists, and one of the pieces will be recognized as the “Outstanding Devised Piece of Festival 52."
