Hispanic Heritage Month Celebration Concludes Oct. 15 at JKC
MCCC's Hispanic Hertiage Month celebration concludes on Tuesday, Oct. 15 with closing ceremonies in Kerney Hall on the James Kerney Campus in Trenton. at 11:30 a.m., lunch will be provided with special guest speaker Adriana Abizadeh of the Latin American Legal Defense Fund. The final event of the month-long observance witll be a concert at 7 p.m., also in Kerney Hall. See the event flyer here.

Transfer Workshop for Rutgers School of Business on Oct. 15
The next transfer workship will focus on the Rutgers School of School of Environmental and Biological Science, from noon to 1 p.m. in AD130. The event is sponsored by MCCC's Career and Transfer Services Office. For a full list of upcoming workshops, click here.

Last Weekend for Intrigue, Deception at Kelsey Theatre in 'Tartuffe'
Only three shows left to experience the American premier of the updated classic tale of duplicity, seduction, and thievery in the form of Moliere's "Tartuffe," presented by PinnWorth Productions at Kelsey Theatre this weekend. Read more here.

Art as a Tool For Civic Engagement is Lecture Topic Oct. 22
The use of artistic expression as a means to bring about social change will be the topic of a lecture on Tuesday, Oct. 22, as part of the college’s Fall 2019 Distinguished Lecture Series. Jive Poetics will deliver his lecture “Insurgent Poetics” at noon in CM109. Read more here.

Health Professions Info Session Oct. 24
The college will offer two more Health Professions Information Sessions, where prospective students will learn about degree programs, career paths, employment opportunities and more. Preparation is Key to Landing Dream Job, Says Prof. Kathi Paluscio
Being prepared, and following up before and after the interview, may be the key to landing your dream job, according to Professor of Communication Kathi Paluscio. She delivered the lecture “Games People Play: The Modern Day Job Interview,” on Oct. 9 to an enthusiastic crowd in the Communications Building Oct. 9 as part of MCCC’s fall Distinguished Lecture series. Mercer Welcomes NJ STARS Students
Mercer welcomed some of the top performing students in the county to the West Windsor Campus last week as part of the NJ STARS program. These currently-enrolled students all performed at the top of their classes in high school, which earned them free tuition at Mercer. Aviation Program Sees Record Enrollment Amidst Changing Job Market
Record enrollment is the latest milestone for MCCC's Aviation Flight Technology program, which continues to offer a practical and affordable way for pilot candidates to earn their wings. Over 180 students enrolled in the curriculum ahead of the Fall 2019 semester. The mark comes a few months before 2020, the program’s 10th anniversary of working with Infinity Flight Group. Oct. 19-26: Women Entrepreneurship Week. Academic Affairs along with American Association for Women in Community Colleges (AAWCC) will sponsor two panel discussions in honor of Women Entrerpreneurship Week, Oct. 19-26. A panel discussion will be presented on Wednesday, Oct. 23, from noon to 1:30 p.m. in CM107 on the West Windsor Campus, and on Thursday, Oct. 24, from noon to 1:30 p.m. in KC229 on the James Kerney Campus. Both panel discussions will feature women entrepreneurs in Mercer County. MCCC Student Life and Leadership, the Center for Continuing Studies, Follett Bookstore, Lessing’s Dining Services, and Kelsey Theatre are providing items for door prizes for the events. There will be light refreshments after the panel discussion. See the flyer here.

Oct. 22: Holocaust Survivor Al Hepner, “Avrumele: Recollections of a Hidden Child.” The Holocaust, Genocide and Human Rights Center's next event for the fall semester features, Al Hepner, a Holocaust survivor. His program will be held in the Holocaust Center (LB200) at noon. For the full schedule of events, click here.

Oct. 23: Aviation Technology Program Open House. Team members from Infinity Flight Group, MCCC and Piedmont/American Airlines will be on hand to answer questions about our guided pathway partnership that will take you from zero flight hours to commercial airline pilot. Interested attendees are asked to RSVP through the Infinity website here. The auditorium room number will be sent prior to the event.

Nov. 6: HRIM's 6th Annual Culinary Tasting Event. Supporting a good cause never tasted so good, as the MCCC Culinary/Pastry programs will once again host a tasting event featuring Central New Jersey’s finest restaurants, with proceeds to benefit student scholarships. Zumba, Yoga Classes Now Underway. Yoga and Zumba classes for staff and students are now under way! Evening yoga continues through Dec. 9 in PE 225 from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. Wednesday lunchtime yoga classes continue through Dec. 11 in the gym, noon to 1 p.m. See the flyer here. Zumba classes will be held on Tuesdays, through Dec. 10, in the gym from noon to 1 p.m. See the flyer here. There will be no classes during the week of Thanksgiving break. Classes are presented through the Student Life and Leadership office.
