MCCC Athletics Hall of Fame

Terry Dorner’s basketball career began during her years at Loyalsock Township High School in Williamsport, PA. During her High School basketball career, Terry scored an astounding 1,000 points in only two seasons, averaging 40 points and 20 rebounds per game.

After her High School graduation, Terry enrolled at MCCC and joined the Women’s basketball team, which she led to its first National Tournament appearance in 1980. During her first year at Mercer, Terry became the college’s first Mercer Women’s Basketball All-American. She was also the first of only four Women’s basketball players to score over 1,000 points while at Mercer. Additionally, she set a national single-game scoring record, with 49 points scored in a regional game.

Following Mercer, Terry went on to study and continue her basketball career at Rutgers University. Terry further made a name for herself as a Kodak District II Honorable Mention All-American and EAIAW All-Region Team selection in 1982. She led the Scarlet Knights in scoring (19.6 ppg) and rebounding (8.9 rpg), and ultimately helped her team win the 1982 AIAW National Championship. While at Rutgers, she set numerous records, which stand to this date. Following her graduation from Rutgers University, Terry played professionally overseas in Sweden, Spain, and Italy.

Terry has been inducted into the Rutgers Athletics Hall of Fame (1996), and the Loyalsock Township High School Hall of Fame.

For over 26 years, Terry has enjoyed a career as a Physical Education teacher in the Frankfort, NY area. She is joined this evening by her husband, Tom Carinci, Jr.
