Scranton, PA-Mercer softball (18-5) beat Lackawanna (21-9) 9-7 in eight innings in Game 1 of their doubleheader. Sophomore Maya Patel (Burlington, NJ/Burlington Township) had two home runs and two RBIs and freshman Jessica Adams (Levittown, PA/Harry S Truman) had a double and 2 RBIs in the win. Freshman pitcher Izzy Bonacci (Hamilton, NJ/Steinert) struck out nine in eight innings in her seventh win of the season.
Freshman Kelci O’Dell (Wrightstown, NJ/Northern Burlington) went 3 for 5 with a home run and RBI and freshman Ada Kaschl (Brussels, Belgium/European School of Brussels III) was 2 for 4 with a double and two runs.
