West Windsor, NJ-Mercer women’s soccer won the Region 19 Championship with a dominating 10-0 win over Essex CC. Freshman Eva Sturm (Berlin, Germany/Gymnasium Steglitz) had six goals and one goal in the win. Freshman Louise Strich (Preston Lancashire, England/Archbishop Temple) had two goals and two assists and freshman Ana Pacheco (Florianopolis, Brazil) scored two goals. Sophomore Annika Maringer (Asperg,Germany/Gymnasium IB Asperg) had a goal and two assists and sophomore Laura Kucharz (Singen, Germany/Friedrich Wohler Gymnasium) had three assists. Freshman Mia Belton (Mount Holly, NJ/Rancocas Valley) added an assist in the win.
Head Coach Ron Stinson was named Region 19 Coach of the Year. Strum was named Region 19 Tournament MVP.
The Vikings advance to the East District Championship and will play Anne Arundel CC, Region 20 Champions on Friday, November 8th at 2:00 PM.
With the win, the #1 seed Vikings advance to the Region 19 Championship and will take on the #2 seed Essex (5-6-1) on Saturday, November 2nd at 11:00 AM at MCCC.
