Huntsville, AL-In their second game of pool play at the National Tournamant, Mercer men’s soccer (18-3-1) lost to Northeast CC (19-1-2) in overtime 2-1. Both of Northeast’s goals came on free kicks.
After a scoreless first half, Mercer took a 1-0 lead early in the second half (54:44) on a goal from sophomore Alou Gamby (Lansdale, PA/North Penn). Northeast tied the game on a free kick (72:09) with 18 minutes left in the second half. The Hawks won the game with another free kick late into the first overtime period (97:23).
The Vikings await the results of today’s game between Phoenix College and Northeast, the two teams in Mercer’s pool, which will determine if the Vikings go home or advance.
