West Windsor, NJ-Mercer baseball (32-21) opened the Region 19 Playoffs with a 14-6 win vs Sussex CCC (24-160. Sophomore Torin McKenzie (Hamilton, NJ/Nottingham) was a perfect 5 for 5 with two doubles and 4 RBIs. Freshman Shane Hickey (Jackson, NJ/Jackson Liberty) had 3 RBIs and sophomore Joe Gmitter (Hamilton, NJ/Steinert) went 2 for 3 with a double and 2 RBIs.
Sophomore Wyatt Baker (Hamilton, NJ/Nottingham) added 2 RBIs and sophomore Ryan Ulisse (Columbus, NJ/Holy Cross) went 2 for 3 with two doubles and an RBI. Sophomore Joe Giori (Hamilton, NJ/Steinert) and freshman Slade Harrill (New Egypt, NJ/Allentown HS) each had an RBI in the win. Freshman pitcher Matteo Mannino (Wrightstown, NJ/Northern Burlington) got his seventh win of the season.
The Vikings will face Lackawanna (30-21) at 12:00 PM in the winners bracket of the Region 19 Playoffs.
