MCCC women’s soccer has a ten game winning streak and that isn’t the only achievement for the 2024 team. For the first time in the Mercer women’s soccer program history the team has earned votes in the NJCAA Division II National poll. MCCC women's soccer just recently joined Division II after years in NJCAA Division I women’s soccer.
Mercer will look to continue their win streak (with three remaining games in the regular season) but more importantly the team has their eyes set on the Region 19 Playoffs and advancing to the District and National Championship. In 2023, Mercer reached the Region 19 Championship but lost 2-1 to Essex.
Ron Stinson, who is in his second year as MCCC Head Coach, attributes the team's success to how close the team is and how the team has bought into what the coaches have asked of the players. “The bond and the culture they’ve created translates to the field and I personally believe it helps them fight until the final whistle of every game. These young ladies get better every game. There are a lot of good coaches at this level, but it’s the players that make the difference. They have to buy in, they have to make the team their own, and they have to trust one another. These young ladies seem to have done that and benefited from that.”
Mercer will look for their eleventh win in a row when they host Region opponent Sussex on Saturday, October 5th at 12:00 PM.
