Mercer women’s magical soccer season came to an end on November 8th, with a 3-4 loss vs Anne Arundel CC in the East District Championship. With the win, Anne Arundel CC advances to the NJCAA Division II National Championship.
Mercer scored two early goals, one by freshman Linnea Rameil (Lennestadt, Germany/Gymnasium Maria Konigin) less than five minutes into the game and another by sophomore Annika Maringer (Asperg,Germany/Gymnasium IB Asperg) fifteen minutes into the game, giving the Vikings an early 2-0 lead.
Anne Arundel CC responded with four unanswered goals, three in the first half and one in the second half. The River Hawks fourth goal came early in the second half, putting the Vikings behind 2-4. Rameil’s second goal of the game with 19 minutes left in the game to put Mercer within one goal but the Vikings could not overcome the River Hawk’s stifling defense.
The Vikings finish the season 14-2-2.
