2024-25 Men's Basketball Season Preview

Last season, Mercer men’s basketball reached the Region 19 Semifinals.  This season the team has the goal of not just reaching the Region Semifinals, but advancing to and winning the Region 19 Championship.

The Vikings have a strong and deep back court led by sophomore guard Jayson Love (Philadelphia, PA/Academy at Palumbo) who averaged 10.4 points per game for MCCC last season. Returning sophomore guard Joe Lemly (Hamilton, NJ/Nottingham) worked his way into the starting rotation and gave Mercer valuable minutes in the second half of the Vikings’ season.  Sophomore transfer Nasir Collins (Hamilton, NJ/Nottingham) averaged 17.9 points and 11.2 rebounds per game in ten games for Manor College in 2022-2023.

Mercer also has a number of talented freshmen guards.  Torren Greene played at Paul VI, #19 in the NJ.com top 20 boys’ high school teams in 2023-2024.  Drew Parrish earned New York All-State honors at Murray Bergtraum High School in New York City, who were four time PSAL (Public Schools Athletic League) City Conference Champions.  Antonio Morris averaged 14.3 points per game at Bensalem High School and was named to the 2024 Suburban Boys All Star Team.  Joell Idrovo (Hamilton, NJ/Solebury School) scored 1,000 points in just three seasons at Solebury School.

Mercer's frontcourt recruits includes 6'6  Sebastian Perry (Cherry Hill, NJ/Cherry Hill East) who was an Honorable Mention COBL (City of Brotherly Love) Interstate Shootout standout in 2023 and Qayyum Gray from Port Rihmond High School in Staten Island.  Brandon McCain (North Brunswick, NJ/North Brunswick HS) averaged 14.7 points per game at North Brunswick High School, earned Honorable Mention All-Conference honors in 2024 and helped lead North Brunswick to a Sectional title in 2024.

Coach Levy “has been very pleased with the group's skill, work ethic and enthusiasm so far, and looks forward to an exciting season."

Mercer men’s basketball has three scrimmages before opening the season on November 4th at Harford CC.  The Vikings home opener is November 9th at 2:00 PM vs RCSJ-Gloucester.
