Freshman Dylan Maher (Wicklow, Ireland) was named to the NJCAA Division II National All-Tournament Team. Twelve players from the National Tournament were selected for this award and Maher is one of just three freshman on the All-Tournament Team.
Maher played outstanding at the National Tournament, helping Mercer upset Phoenix College in their opening tournament game, 3-2. The midfielder also helped MCCC nearly upset eventual National Champion, Northeast CC, as the Vikings lost 2-1 in overtime in their second game of pool play, which eliminated Mercer from the National Tournament.
Maher dominated on both sides of the ball. Offensively, the Vikings scored the sixth most goals in the nation. Defensively, Mercer was third in the nation with ten shutouts in 22 games. Maher’s ability to control possession or gain possession helped the Vikings be one of the top teams on offense and defense.
