In honor of National Coaches’ Day, which fell on October 6 th, we would like to thank all of our MCCC coaches for all their hard work and all the time they put in to help our student athletes reach their potential.
Women’s soccer is led by first year Head Coach Ron Stinson. Stinson is assisted by Karissa Estelle and Brynn Wilfing. Estelle was a member of the 2017 and 2018 Mercer women’s soccer team, earning All GSAC (Garden State Athletic Conference) honors in 2017 and 2018 and All-Region 19 honors in 2018.
Men’s soccer is led by Head Coach Widmarc Dalce, who played at MCCC in 1996 and 1997. Dalce earned All-Region honors in 1997 and was a member of the 1996 National Championship team. Dalce served as an Assistant Coach in 2010 and 2011 before becoming Head Coach in 2012. Dalce has 130 career wins and has coached three All-Americans.
Dalce is assisted by former players Kamal Eletrebi, Matheus Martins and Volunteer Assistant Coach John Pietrowski. Pietrowski has been assisting the men’s soccer team for the past thirty years and was elected to the NJCAA Men’s Soccer Hall of Fame as a Contributor in 2018. Eletrebi was a member of the 2017 and 2018 Vikings and a part of the last Viking team to qualify for the NJCAA National Men’s Soccer Tournament. Martins was a member of the 2018 and 2019 MCCC men’s soccer teams.
Mercer softball is led by Head Coach Ryan Zegarski, who enters his 20 th season of coaching. Zegarski has 558 career wins and has led the Vikings to the Division II World Series three times in the last 16 years. Zegarski played baseball at MCCC and was a member of the 2000 team that made the NJCAA Division II World Series.
Zegarki is assisted by Tom DeStefano. DeStefano has been an Assistant Coach with MCCC men’s basketball, women’s soccer and softball and was a goalie on the last Mercer men’s soccer team to win a NJCAA National Championship in 2004. Former pitcher Heather Clevenger is also serving as an Assistant Coach for the Vikings this year. Clevenger was an All-Conference pitcher for the Vikings in 2019.
Former MCCC baseball player Russ Stupienski is entering his second season as Head Coach for the Vikings. Stupienski served as Assistant Coach for the Vikings since 2012 and helped the Vikings reach the NJCAA Division II World Series in 2014, 2016 and 2022. Stupienski was a catcher and closer for the 2009 and 2010 Vikings teams and earned All-Conference honors in 2010. Stupienski is assisted by Rich Carabell and Matt Zegari.
Men’s basketball is led by Howard Levy, who is entering his 15 th season at the helm as the Vikings Head Coach. Levy helped lead the Vikings to the NJCAA Division II National Championship in 2010 and has coached three NJCAA All-Americans. Levy is assisted by former MCCC basketball player Kevin Allison. Allison was a member of the Vikings basketball team in 2012-2013 and 2013-2014.
Mercer women’s tennis is led by Marc Vecchiolla who is entering his 28 th season as Head Women’s Coach Head Coach. Vecchiolla has led the women’s tennis team to four NJCAA National Championships and coached 42 women’s tennis All-Americans. Vecchiolla has been Head Coach of the MCCC men’s tennis team since 2008 and has handed the Head Coach duties to Andy Stoll, who is entering his third season in this role. Stoll helped lead the Vikings to a third place finish at the NJCAA Division III Championship in 2022 and National titles and All-Americans at 1 st Singles, 2 nd Singles and 1 st Doubles.
Both the men’s and women’s team are assisted by former MCCC player and All-American Barb Pleva, who is entering her 23 rd season as a Volunteer Coach with the program.
