Women's Tennis Sophomore Valeria Vargas

In honor of MCCC women’s tennis final home match on April 29th, we will recognize the Vikings lone sophomore player, Valeria Vargas (Valencia, Venezuela/Instituto Santa Cruz).  Vargas has been a leader for Mercer women’s tennis the past two seasons as well as one of their top players.  Vargas is the Vikings women's tennis team captain.

Vargas was named one of Mercer’s National Girls and Women in Sports Day Award Winners in February for her academic and athletic achievements as well as her leadership and teamwork.

Last spring, Vargas helped lead the Vikings to a 25^th place finish at the NJCAA Division I National Championships in Tyler, Texas.  In the 2024 season, Vargas is 8-3 in both Singles and Doubles matches and has helped Mercer to a 8-3 record on the season.

Vargas is a Business Administration major.  Vargas has earned All-Region 19 and All-GSAC (Garden State Athletic Conference) All-Academic honors in her two semesters at MCCC (Spring 2023 and Fall 2023).
