MCCC Tennis Coaches Involved In NJTL Gala with Former World Ranked #1 Tennis Player Kim Clijsters

MCCC Head Women’s Tennis Coach Marc Vecchiolla and Head Men’s Coach Andy Stoll were both involved in the NJTL’s 30th Annual Gala, held on September 22nd at the Indoor Mercer County Tennis Center.  The NJTL (National Junior Tennis and Learning) offers free or low cost tennis and education programming to under-resourced youth.  This year the featured guest at the gala was Kim Clijsters, a six time Grand Slam Champion.

The gala featured a drill exhibition from Clijsters and Princeton University players teaming up with NJTL students for exhibition play.

In 2013, Clijsters became the first Belgian player to hold the #1 Singles ranking.  Clijsters is one of just six women to hold the WTA World #1 ranking simultaneously in both Singles and Doubles. In 2017, Clijsters was inducted to the International Tennis Hall of Fame.

Stoll is the Lead Performance Coach for NJTL Trenton and Vecchiolla is Director of Tennis Operations at Mercer County Park.  Vecchiolla is also a NJTL Committee member.  Vecchiolla helped set up the tennis facility for the gala and Stoll brought some of his NJTL students to participate in the exhibition with Princeton University players and Clijsters.
