We shared about Mercer Women’s Tennis Coach Marc Vecchiolla and the trip he helped organize for local youth to the US Open. This week we will share about the trip MCCC Head Men’s Tennis Coach Andy Stoll took with local youth to the US Open and around New York City.
Stoll is Lead High Performance Coach for the NJTL (National Junior Tennis Learning) Trenton chapter. The NJTL offers free or low cost tennis and education programming to under-resourced youth.
Two Trenton NJTL students, who won an essay contest, were invited to a five day experience at the US Open. These two students trained with NJTL students from across the country then got to visit some landmarks in New York City.
Twenty five free tickets were available to NJTL students and after those ran out, tickets were available for purchase.
Stoll served as a guide for the NJTL students as they explored landmarks throughout New York City, including Times Square and Battery Park (to view the Statue of Liberty). The students also got to watch some US Open matches including Coco Gauff vs Donna Vekic.
