Women's Tennis Spring Schedule Announced

11/28/23

The 2024 women’s tennis has been announced, featuring 13 dual matches and one tournament.  The Vikings open the season with a home match vs Harford on March 19th.  The final match of the season is on April 29th at home vs Cairn University.

The Vikings will travel to USC Sumter again this spring for a three day tournament April 5th-7th.  Mercer will also get the opportunity to play at the Billie Jean National Tennis Center in New York, site of the US Open, in a match against Baruch College on March 24th.

The 2024 schedule features matches against Region 19 opponents: RCSJ-Gloucester, Brookdale, Ocean County College, and Camden County College.

The Vikings will look to qualify for the NJCAA Division I National Championship held May 2nd-9th in Tyler, Texas.

Two challenging Division III opponents for the Vikings include Camden and RCSJ-Gloucester.  In fall 2022, Camden finished tied for 2nd at the NJCAA Division III National Championship and had four All-Americans.  RCSJ-Gloucester finished in 4th place at the Division III National Championship last year.

Another tough opponent for the Vikings will be USC Sumter, who finished 11th at the NJCAA Division I National Championship last spring.

Mercer will also play three four year schools this spring.  Stockton University finished 12-5 in the 22-23 tennis season.  Baruch College went 12-1 this fall.  Cairn University won the CSAC (Colonial States Atlantic Conference) Championship and advanced to the NCAA Division III National Championship in spring 2023.

The Vikings finished 25th at the NJCAA Division I National Championship last May.  Marc Vecchiolla enters his 28th season as Head Coach of the Vikings.  Vecchiolla will be assisted by longtime Assistant Coach Barb Pleva.
