Mercer men’s soccer final regular season game was cancelled, but we want to recognize the Vikings six sophomores. The six men’s soccer sophomores are Dillon Du Toit (Johannesburg, South Africa/Waterstone College), Omolemo Matla (Vereeniging, South Africa/Waterstone College), Felipe Nazario (Campinas, Brazil/Fundacao Bradesco Campinas), Teddy Nkamanyi (Cologne, Germany/Gesmtschule Duisburg Mitte), Naoya Obata (Nishitokyo, Japan/Austin Height International School) and Kida Yamaguchi (Hiroshima, Japan/Aomori Yamada School). Over the last two seasons, these six sophomores have been a part of 19 wins for MCCC men’s soccer.
Felipe Nazario is a midfielder. In two seasons, Nazario has six goals and seven assists. Nazario is majoring in Business Administration.
Defender Naoya Obata from Nishitokyo, Japan has three goals and three assists over two seasons. Obata is a Business Administration major.
Kida Yamaguchi is a midfielder from Hiroshima, Japan. Yamaguchi has six goals and three assists over two seasons. Yamaguchi is a Liberal Arts major.
Teddy Nkamanyi is a forward, who is one goal away from 25 in two seasons. Nkamnayi has 11 goals this season and had 13 in 2022. Nkamanyi is a Television major.
Omolemo Matla is a midfielder. Matla is a team captain and tied for most assists on the team with five this season. Matla has three goals and seven assists over two seasons. Matla is a Business Administration major.
Dillon DuToit is a defender. Du Toit is a team captain and has three goals and one assist over two seasons. Du Toit earned All-Region 19 honors in 2022. Du Toit is a Business Administration major.
The six MCCC sophomores will help lead the Vikings into the Region 19 Semifinals against Essex on October 28th. Earlier this season, the Vikings beat Essex 1-0.
We would like to thank these six sophomore players for all the time and hard work they have put in the past two seasons.
