MCCC men’s soccer is 6-1-1 half way through the 2024 season.
Last season the Vikings won the Region 19 Championship and advanced to the Northeast District Championship, falling one game short of advancing to the NJCAA Division II National Championship.
The Vikings are very balanced offensively. Freshman Adrian Franco leads the team in goals (4) and assists (3). Freshman Manuel Alonso and sophomores Diego Orquiz (Chihuahua, Mexico/Valle de Mexico), Francesco Quintavalla (Parma, Italy/Convitto Nazionale Maria Luigia), and Joao Lourenco (Belo Horizonte/Cesec Murilo Mendes) each have two goals this season.
Mercer men’s soccer has scored 24 goals on the season, 14th best in the nation with 20 assists, which is 12th best in the nation.
The Vikings have also been solid defensively. In nine games, Mercer has five shutouts. Five shutouts is the best in the nation in Division II men's soccer. Freshman goalie Ignacio Pacheco (Cordoba, Argentina) has 20 saves and a 1.13 goals against average.
The Vikings have a big Region 19 game coming up when they host Essex at 2:00 PM on Saturday, September 21st.
