Mercer men’s soccer season came to an end one win shy of reaching the NJCAA Division II National Championship. The Vikings lost 0-2 at Schoolcraft College in the Northeast District Championship held in Livonia, Michigan.
The Ocelots had a goal late in the first half (41’) and scored again about halfway through the second half (68’) to seal the win.
Schoolcraft moved to 17-2-0 on the season and was ranked 6th in DII men’s soccer heading into the District Championship.
Freshman goalie Elias Ruano (Telde, Spain/Juan Pulido Castro) had nine saves in the losing effort.
The Vikings finish the season 9-6-2 and one win away from advancing to the NJCAA Division II National Championship. Mercer advanced to the District Championship following a 3-0 win over Massasoit in the Region 19 Championship last weekend.
